    Oak door expansion

The weather mould seems to show that it's an external door so I would go with the last advice and allow three mm between each board. The destructive power of expanding timber is enormous. Many years ago I made a tall side gate from European ash, every winter the boards expanded more than I had...

Faux wood effect over white gloss

If you google "stain and grain" you should see a method of creating a wood-like finish using scumble. Also YouTube shows how to scumble a panel on a narrowboat .

    Tounge and Groove

I suggest you have further think! That's a very expensive and labour intensive system with a very short life expectancy. Those horizontal joints will hold water and cause rot to set in very rapidly, not to mention the problems of expansion.

    NOOOOOOO!

How long will it take these idiots to work out that any unskilled moron can drill a hole to fit a tea light. They are not gifts! Given an inquisitive child (or a ******** adult) they tragedy starters. For pity's sake grow up.

What to do with a split?

Please be assured that any attempt to secure the split will cause further damage.

What to do with a split?

As you say the split was certain to occur, and even when the slice is down to its final moisture content it will continue to open and close slightly with variations in ambient moisture levels. You can't stop it moving so anything used to fill the gap would need to be flexible. I suggest...

    Sedgwick CP dust hood

No I have a timber box for that.

    Extending table leafs

My suggestion would be to rip the board to slightly reduce its width and remove the split before rejoining the two parts with a glue joint. The gadrooned edge could possibly be made as a separate piece to fit later, as you say the overall shape is not a problem but the carving will be mega man...

    Sedgwick CP dust hood

I had the problem thirty years ago with an MB and made this , the far side edge rests on the infeed bed and it pivots on the two mounting bolts. To comply with current regs it arguably needs a cross shaped guard to prevent fingers from approaching the cutters. So far I haven't been that stupid!

Another Question for the fitted furniture makers

Nothing wrong with suggested methods assuming that the resulting template can be removed and transported to the workshop. Most of us have experienced making something that won't pass through the workshop door when assembled. Just out of interest you might like to google " joggle stick" this is a...

    Oak cupping

If you use quarter saw oak the problem should not be evident. Quarter sawn is stable since the growth rings are at 90 degrees to the face, it also shows the medullary Ray's as a pattern on the face. The photo shows the face of a quarter sawn pair of boards

how to insert wood shelf and fill wall

A decent job would be timber studding Witt plaster board and skim. Failing that a pelmet above would cover the arch if it's a window.

What dust extractor should I buy. + pipework

The Fox F 50 extractor is sold by Charnwood at a good price and with a three year guarantee. Don't use anything but purpose made ducting with 4" as a minimum size. Siting the machine in a separate space is vital for health.

Raised Panel Cutters For House Doors Interior and Exterior

I prefer to cut from the top face when making a single sided raised panel, it gives an accurate tongue as suggested. The illustrations you have from idostuff are seriously flawed in showing the panel secured only by the bollection and panel moulds. Only an ***** wou fail to put the panels in a...

    Dust extraction hose and fittings.

There are now some links below. Don't even consider using plastic pipes is my advice. If you google Dust Spares they have good prices but a damaging delivery service via Tuffnells.

Farmhouse style table - general advice requested!

This is my answer, one I made earlier! Just over 25 years earlier, the top is made of 38mm quartered oak so it has stayed completely flat in spite of being in a south facing window and as hot as hell in the summer! It's recently been sanded and refinished as you can see from the shine. Don't...

    Glass fronted bookcase advice?

Toughened glass has to be ordered and takes time to arrive. Laminated glass is normally cut while you wait. If toughened glass is broken it shatters into tiny pieces were as laminated cracks but remains in place.

Two face veneered ply - from where?

It was always rather hard to source and has now been replaced with MDF with two veneered faces. I have resorted to gluing two sheets of ply with single veneered faces together to get the desired result.

    Dust extractor floor sweeper

This has served me for years, it's a six metre length of 100 mm flexible connected to a two HP extractor in a separate room. A length of 65 mm rainwater pipe with a turned connector is used as the "broom". The Spring connector makes assembly quick and easy, I intend to try a gutter connector at...

    hay? what?

My problems are mumbling so called actors and insane habit of playing music at the same time as dialogue . The classic scene was the great detective and his faithful sidekick down a coal mine together with dead body, killer, and A full b!'vdy orchestra!
