    Decorative option?

I agree with Paul. Bit of sanding sealer first helps

    Nailing down floorboards

If he is varnishing, may be worth prepping boards before fitting to avoid nail or screw head problems. I reckon nails could well work loose in chipboard. I assume he can't remove the boards first

    An experiment

Cool! Did you just layer the paper or scrunch it up?

    resin

I've watched demos where they use West or I think Glass Cast, or something like that and they did slow pours and in layers without pressure pot - seemed to work fine

    Moisture

Wow. Can of worms time! Depending what you're turning, you'll be able to 'wet turn' either rough, e.g. bowl, leaving the walls thick enough to warp, then re-turn it back to round once dry, or turn the walls very thin and even, all in one go, and let the warping occur as a feature. I recommend...

    Log sealing

I feel your pain. The fully round one doesn't surprise me - I learned that the hard way, too. Not sure of their sizes, but might be worth splitting down the spilt and make some small things - might not be the plan originally, but can still improve your skills 😁

Is there a 'marquetry today' type magazine or forum that could assist?

    First Bandsaw Buying Advice

I've got a previously owned Record bs14, which I believe, but may well be wrong, is the predecssor to tha bs350. It's been great. It works well even when I throw large pieces of tree at it and only occasionally complains - often because I've pushed it too hard coz I'm impatient and lazy, so need...

    Filling cracks question.

I couldn't get any match - just make a feature of it instead, eg dark dust, coffee grounds...

    Random- how many sockets?

I'll preface this by saying akirk above probably knows a little more than me about electrical installations, so bear with me! I kinda understand the logic of ring main circuits. But I've just read, (before reading MikeJhn above about socket limits in France, so maybe irrelevant question now)...

    Axminster Harvey bandsaw

If the rear bearing is being forced back, it could be the blade is blunt - might be worth checking?

    Re-sharpen or buy new

Only joking. I've done the same with a dremel on my bandsaw blade - but I'm only prepping turning blanks, so rough and approx works. If I ever get skillful, (no rush!), I will not risk that on eg veneers.

    Bowling bowls

When squaring up the blank for eg a mallet, cut the waste carefully and you'll have pieces you could use as little embellishments, eg cabouchons on box tops, etc

    Shiny knobs

    Nice knobs Adam!

    Steel rod/bar

Thanks Mr Jelly. You lost me at NOS, but I have heard of m2 and m42 😁 I'll give them a shout. Cheers

    home made bowl turning lathe

Nice idea, though you may want to give turning a bit of a go on smaller stuff to see if you do like it. Lots of folk intend to do loads of bowls bit end up on smaller, more intricate items. That said, if the idea of a self build appeals, crack on and show us the progress! Remember- big bowls...
