Post a photo of the last thing you made

A BIG chunky pestle and mortar requested buy a fellow forumer who doesn't spin wood. Mortar internal 4.5" by 4.5" Pestle 8.5" by about 2.5" tapering to 2" Beech, unfinished for him to choose his own oil. It was VERY hard and took a good long time to hollow using a crown revolution, which was...

Going to spend the rest of my life de-nailing!

Exactly what I was going to say 😂. Mine is a frigging brute with a splitting maul - I can't pick the pieces up quickly enough when he gets started 💪

That's great. In the interests of full disclosure, it was happy amateur who suggested it - I just thought it was a great idea.

Incorporating fordite to a bowl: design options please.

Love your work, sir. I'm sure the recipient will, too 👍

Phil, I think HA means bringing the TS centre up to the empty hollow HS spindle - so the 60 degree centre goes into the spindle bore - if HS is 'loose', it should re align with the TS. If I've misunderstood his post, apologies and I'll wind my neck in 🤐

Filler from sanding dust - advice…

In my experience, (limited), and the comments of others, filler of the background wood dust with some form of adhesive will always come out darker than original wood. One tip is to use a darker wood to make it seem like a natural feature. Other than that, you're into blending dusts to achieve...

Long term storage of ash for firewood - how best to go about it?

For firewood, if they split is actually handy, as you say. Splitting into approx quadrants is much easier when still green. Then stack. Lengths is purely your choice/ convenience

Advice needed : repair walking cane

I was going to suggest a series of small drill holes all around the screw that's stuck, then judicious prying it from the weakened area, but I agree with the lady couple of posts - big risk of it all being too weak to be safe. An alternative MIGHT be to put a sleeve of e.g. steel over both...

    Bandsaw choice

Not seen or used a Basa, but I was put off when considering, by the apparently wide footprint. Don't know if that's fair, or accurate, but in my limited knowledge, seemed a slight neg.

    What is this wood?

Lovely wood. Not a clue what it is. Have you got some clear view of bark, buds, leaves?

    Pen

Nice effect, that. Don't beat yourself up over it not turning out as well as you want - still looks nice. I've found pens quite frustrating, tbh. Some work well and others I wonder why I bothered, yet can't always work out what I must've done differently
