Preparing some ash boards from two logs which have been laying in my workshop for 4 years and hoping to use next year (2017). They did not cut easily, the saw coped oK but I was not able to feed them to the blade in comfort owing to weight. I need a feed system to do this sort of thing...

Back to the box, found some sapelle timber and cleaned it up to 4mm thickness, put through the router for base rebate and lid. The lid recess broke out at a corner but was able to get away with a slight repair.

    Europe. Gold medals

108 gold medals were won by Europeans at the Rio Olmpics 2016. Therefore in my opinion Europe are the most successful competitors. Not the U.S.A

    something new and seeking advice

First two photographs are of icecream sticks (Magnums) ,The timber is of very good quality and seems tobe a hardwood. What is it? and a source? How would you prepare it down to around 3mm thickness and par? Secondly this new picture displays a box made and given to me this year by an...

    Box #1

Even with a table saw you would then need a jig to get consistant mitres. Yours look good for a hand cut. When I glue up the pieces to make a box I found the easiest way without any mechanical adjustments needed was as per picture below. Lay two lengths of masking tape sticky side up and...

That as always been my experience, (plus two true wood faces under and side face)

Making the most of a budget table saw, mitre saw and bandsaw

My experience with a bandsaw fence is that it does not necessarily need to be parallel to the mitre slot but needs to track the cutting angle of the blade action.

    Another project looming

Spent yesterday morning sorting out some more wood to work with. I had a design in mind but what was laying around on the saw top did not inspire so I planed up two faces of each piece in picture below and then will thickness later. Maple, sapelle and oak. A piece of ABW awaiting the...

    Cut an oak board offcut

Woodwork finished on this oak, sapelle, lacewood, maple and ply (sliders) tissue box. The reason for putting stringers to four corners was the misalignment of those sapelle stripes. Underside of box.
