    changing user name.

You can't, I had this conversation a while back. But if you ask a mod, they can change it. Phil

    Need augers?

Wish you wouldn't post links like that! Just had to be done, definitely come in handy rewiring the shed. Thanks Phil.

    ............

That is certainly the way I would do it, the same as when doing 'inside out' turning. Use a layer of brown wrapping paper and it will easily split along the joint. I also wrap a couple of turns of insulation tape at both ends, belt and braces, just in case you get a catch. Sorby type sprung...

    Fresh Yew wood

Happy to bring it home and share the spoils, there will be plenty to go round. Waiting on the contractors to contact me any time now. Will PM when the deed is done. A good day out last week, Yandles show from 10:00 till 2 then across to Huish (whats with all the hold ups at Westland roundabout...

    Bosch impact driver

Stop thinking about an impact driver and buy it. It will get lots of use after. I realise now I should have bought one years ago after watching one being used last year. I now have the dewalt brushless version. It is used alongside my cordless drill on most projects, but is soooo much more...

    Fresh Yew wood

Wow, didn't expect quite so much advice so quickly, many thanks to all of you. I will take pics when I go up there, and will certainly take Phil's advice of a slab of beer to get a 'little input' into how it's cut. I have a Jeep and a small trailer which I use for house fire logging, so I'll be...

    Fresh Yew wood

I have been offered a, yet to be felled, yew tree from the local cemetery. :D Approx. 35ft tall 3ft across and of course all the branches up to 10 inches, 200 years+ old (some say 300 years old) . It will be felled professionally, and I can have as much wood as I care to collect. Is Yew...

What metal is a telescopic aerial made of

Regardless of what size removal tool used you can then re-drill the hole with a decent sharp drill bit the same size as a plug size you can make. So if you use a 3mm tube drill, you can then redrill to 4mm if you have 4mm plugs. Phil

    Prostate Cancer Test

Don't ask for the PSA test around these parts. When I asked I was told the results from PSA tests are inconclusive without other symptom, giving false positives, and are therefore a waste of time, and not available, period, without other reasons to give it. I'm 59 and no reason to think...

    Rcord bs 400 Bandsaw

Same with the Jet 16" saw. £1200 and a blade that can only be described as packaging. I couldn't cut 9mm ply straight with it, t'was a big disappointment and kind of ruined the initial experience. Changed to a Tuffsaw blade and instantly can resaw 6" stock as 2mm veneers true as a die. I really...

    Dropbox problem

Hi Dvinwoody Instead of doing a restore just remove the update. Control panel, programmes and features, show installed updates, sort by date, remove the offending one and restart. Phil

Very, very, very annoyed. 2 things.

Grrr! The replacement all over live television of 'are' for 'our' as on strictly etc. They are introduced as 'are judges' not 'our judges'. Phil

    Burnisher recommendation

If you can't find it, go to any service garage, especially the small independents, and ask for a removed one. They will willingly give you one. Phil

    Non wood bowls

Our local house clearance shop has several sets. Is there a sure way of telling which are wood and which are composite? Phil

    A BUSINESS QUESTION

You can at the same prices. If any of the other companies can sell your product at £490, so can you. You can also put on 'special offers' each month or whatever and reduce each range in rotation for a given time. That way you are selling at the same price as retailers, they get their markup, you...

    Windows 10

For machine CNC work, you're missing nothing. We still supply refurb computers with Dos6, win98 and XP for wood and metal CNC and metal milling machines. It's what old software runs happily on and does a specific task perfectly, supports legacy ports natively, so no need to update, indeed...

how much do you add on for materials to the customer

My discussion would not have been long on that point. Why do so many employed people treat self employed tradesmen as charities? Let them buy the materials themselves, from wherever they can get the same quality and they would pay far more than a 10% premium and have the hassle of transport and...

Bowl turning - advice for a beginner

I've got a 3/4 x 16 faceplate/screwchuck if you want it for the cost of postage. If not I'll pop it in the for sale section. Phil
