Sash bar dimensions for historical windows

You're not quite understanding this bit are you Jacob? It is a haunch, yes, in a different direction compared to the type you are used to but non the less it serves its purpose to resist any movement of the joint laterally. By the franked method the amount of timber on the outer edge of the...

Sash bar dimensions for historical windows

As mentioned by Adam it is easy to make suppositions without experience or corroborated evidence which is something I bear in mind when out doing displays and telling people what tools did what. Even with hard facts like original catalogue listings you can still come across tradesmen who have...

Perhaps I can help with your problem Jacob.... I quote Sgian.... ####### The drawings I produce, or that I've received from designers to make stuff are almost exclusively to scale, e.g.,1/5, 1/10, etc. This has always applied even to things like the occasional door or window that I've put...

Do I get the impression that this is a practice piece Steve ? If so trim the jambs length to remove issue and recut the joints. I don't need to say reduce the height of the layout board to match, do I ? Cheers, Andy

Clarification please. Cutter guide causing burn marks? Maintenance required of bearing. Cutter itself causing burn marks? Too blunt or feed rate too slow. Cheers, Andy

Anyone in Germany. Bonum 2001 scraper search.

Thank you so very much for taking your time to pop in here with this. If you were just around the corner I'd be tempted to say yes to add a spare. I say a spare because latterly I have picked up a boxed set with all the heads. Who knew that they could be had in a boxed set? Maybe someone else...

Best practice for installing new doors into old frames

Jacob, perhaps you could clarify this as it reads like you're saying put a rebate in the face and edge of the door ? Hands up, in my early days I did it to some small solid pine doors but that was just a 1/16" and inside the airing cupboard of my own house because the stop was already too small...

    Calculating rebuild cost in England

So, I keep getting a fault notification (non specific) when using https://abi.bcis.co.uk/register/register.aspx Perhaps I am calculating the square meters wrong? The property is 7620 mm x 5825mm. 88.2 is what I make it after doubling up for two story dwelling. Cheers, Andy
