    Rutlands tools

Genuine question, how far has it been possible to do so, so far? Are most [complex] products not global now and would almost certainly have Chinese components in them?

    Changing Times

That is ridiculous. Doing a PhD and they didn't even teach them how to solder? Next you will say that they don't know how to change the oil in their car either. Crazy times that we live in.

    DIY level Flat top blade

I went with the CMT. The advantage of a saw blade is potential use on a finger/box joint jig later. alternatively you could use veneer as the splines and cut with a handsaw (gents saw or dovetail saw). veneer splines mitre box for some pictures (some of the pictures are not relevant). Match...

    Rutland's Sale

Is there a day where Rutland's don't have a sale? Were the items ever for sale and in stock at the full price? I assume that the items have a 5* review.

    Bringing goods from the EU

just what you need! price is one thing, availability could be another challenge if it is anything like so many other products.

    Bringing goods from the EU

I would expect that there will normally be a contractual discussion. The seller will do their best to state that all taxes and duties are excluded from the price. The buyer will push for everything to be included. Business to business it probably doesn't matter that much, but may have an impact...

    Changing Times

have some faith. The youth of today are not as inept as you believe them to be. Interests may have changed and skills are (in many cases) different. The skills that many graduates and even school leavers have now probably dont include woodwork, metal work, home economics and car maintenance...

Guide Rail for Worx Circular saw

if you cut 2 pieces and are slightly off (you need to be pretty accurate), butt the two together and run the saw cut so that it cuts down the join. should then be perfect.

Weird sculpture thing...suggestions before I burn it

you missed your opportunity to wrap it up and give it to a parent for Christmas. if you dont want it, put a silly high price on it, bung it on ebay as a one off, direct from the artist and give it a few months. you might get lucky.

    Possible can of worms

Yeahbut... A new creusen grinder and 2 new 447 jigs would be almost the price of the Sorby. You are also an experienced turner and know what you are doing. I agree that for you, the additional benefit is marginal and not worth it for the cost. To a beginner or somebody with nothing more than...
