Does anybody do wood stabilising (pressure injecting with resin). I have a few nice looking bog Oak pen blanks but they have splits in them. I don't have a pressure pot and setup so if anybody is interested in doing them either for some cash or to keep some as a trade, let me know.

do they need to be powder coated? Could you not repaint some white ones (which I presume are more readily available)

No, I meant straight over the top of the surface actually. It would be easy to remove and shouldn't stop things sliding. I think I would rather have antislip pads myself but I can see the advantages of both.

It works, it'll be fine! Don't let it freeze though because that will cause you issues as it will with all PVA glues (although some claim to be able to stand a freeze thaw cycle or two, I wouldn't risk it). There are lots of brands out there. Yours probably only didn't get a mention because...

where did you use for timber? I struggle a bit- usually use British hardwoods over in keighley. I am just next to horsforth so will have a look there.

I doubt it is worthwhile faking them. I don't think that there are even fake Lie Nielsen chisels out there. May well have switched to another handle material though.
