    Silver Soldering in a Kiln

I am sure that I have seen a WIP on that and I believe it is solid bronze, Tig welded. I will look at corner pieces, the table is very much an idea stored in my mind for now.

You know when you spot something on ebay, listed wrongly and think you're on to a winner.

Yes, LN gear does seem a bit like that, even in very used condition.

You know when you spot something on ebay, listed wrongly and think you're on to a winner.

If you have the cash, I would say treat yourself and pay the £100-£150. If you like the feature, it is still a bargain for the times you would use it and you get to enjoy it rather than waiting a year to save £50. If you don't like it, you can relist it and it costs you a few quid and a bit of...

You know when you spot something on ebay, listed wrongly and think you're on to a winner.

I don't think that you get many collectable bargains now. There are too many people scouring every new listing on a semi professional basis. You may get the odd buy it now bargain but they are rare. The only things that I have bought recently have been bargains compared with buying a comparable...

    Where can i get Laminate

I can't help with the laminate, but I have seen posts on here before where people have bought Formica or similar. Could you not coat the table in something like a hard wax oil and then put a bit of wax over that? The glue drippings should come off easily and for messier jobs, a layer of...

    Interwood Veneer Press?

Yes I agree. Free to a good home- our local scrap "merchant" would be all over that and would not be subtle about it either.

    In need of advice

the one that you linked to looked good. make sure it comes with the chuck key or you will spend some time and a few quid chasing down a decent on etc fit. the cheap ones are usually useless. if you want new, I find either arc trade or rdg tools to be as good as any. Given the choice I would...

and have a lot of space. I suspect there is a fair bit of cost involved in moving and relocating that one.

    Starter chisel set

what are you using your chisels for? if you are cutting mortices, I would recommend getting a pig sticker type. I much prefer this for morticing and a decent one wont cost you much on ebay to give it a try. Isaac Greeves Mortice Chisel | eBay random one as an example.

    Silver Soldering in a Kiln

a silly question perhaps but how do you hold the pieces for soldering? with welding magnets and fixtures seem to be the way forward but with soldering/braising these are a heat sink aren't they?

    Silver Soldering in a Kiln

I was thinking something along the lines of this table frame. https://www.gregklassen.com/product/archipelago-series-table-no-2 Brazing may be a possibility. I imagine that you were not best pleased after melting your piece!

    Silver Soldering in a Kiln

is silver soldering a suitable method for holding 2 pieces at a right angle using a butt joint? I need a method of doing so for 2 pieces of 1/2" brass or bronze bar. I dont have access to TIG.

Where do you get quality plans?

I can't see it mentioned on the thread so far... I am not a designer. I do like to use inspiration from things that I see, and I wouldn't want to sell these for fear of infringing IP rights so they are for my own use. I am certain that many others on the forum do similarly. If in doubt, check...

    Safety Goggles

thanks everybody. combining a couple of answers, I can get some Uvex for little over a tenner, and they will fit in the grinder box too rather than the face shield. I will probably try these out and use them as a benchmark. I dont do much grinding, and this next job is a diamond blade cutting...

    Safety Goggles

I need a pair of safety goggles for doing a few grinding and cutting tasks. Screwfix is nearest... Any particular recommendations? Bolle have been my go-to for safety glasses but I presume that glasses aren't really suitable for grinding. I have reasonably good eyesight, by which I mean that I...

Where do you get quality plans?

general question, but is it Ted McGrath who is famed for taking plans from various places online., whether covered by copyright or not and selling them to unsuspecting people?

Where do you get quality plans?

Have a search on here. I think that there were some wooden greenhouse plans referenced on here in the past few montgs- I think it was an old magazine.
