    Bloody Olympics

That's easy. For West Country you have to get west of a line connecting Bristol/Bournemouth. Bristol is just South Midlands!

Here's how to waste some time!

Alf - If there's no screenshot it didn't happen. Now for goodness sake get out in the workshop and fettle some tools!

Time to raise the bar a bit! I really must get out more.

Here's how to waste some time!

Are you kidding? Steer using the L< and R> arrows on your keyboard, and accelerate or slow down using ^ and v - simples! You lose time for each gate you miss.

    2tpi bandsaw blade omg!!

First I need some grandchildren! Neither son nor daughter show any inclination to settle down, and although son maybe an absolute wizard at computer programming he has zero interest in making anything using practical skills. So maybe I'll just take it with me!

    Penguin spotted on the Ouse.

There was a similar exchange about unlikely birds that had been spotted locally in our village weekly news sheet - "The Private Nose". Eventually the editor closed the topic by saying that there was rumour going round that "Lizzie Stone had a shag in her bedroom". After choking on her...

    Picture Framing With Festool??????????

One of these perhaps? I have the smaller version and find it useful in all sorts of projects, not just framing.

    SIP 01344 planer thicknesser

Thanks Mark. Another possibility. I may just give SIP a call just to see whether there are any differences between the 01454's and the 01338's. SIP have them listed separately and the 01454's are half the price for some reason.

    SIP 01344 planer thicknesser

Thanks guys. Toolite have the resharpenable blades for £34.95 plus £5.95 p&p. I'll give cutting solutions a call on Monday and see what they have to offer. If their standard 260mm blades fit, then they are under £18 per pair. chippy mark - which blades did you get? Not sure from your...

    SIP 01344 planer thicknesser

I also have a SIP 01344 p/t and need to replace the blades. Did you ever resolve this issue? I'm wondering whether to get the 1mm 01338 disposables or the 3mm 01339 resharpenables. At £52 per pair plus £6 postage they seem very expensive for what they are. Are there any alternatives?

Same thoughts here. What woods to use? I was thinking ash and sapele to get the contrast?

    wall hung watch

Welcome to the forum Phil. Once you have a few postings under your belt you'll be able to post links as well. Here's the one we're looking for. http://www.woodstore.net/walwris.html

    Best Finish??

+1 . I have used both this and Osmo PolyX and have been happy with both. When using the Osmo, I used 2 coats and then a wax polish over. However, I recently did a test to compare this with Chestnut Shellac sanding sealer with Chestnut microcrystalline wax over. This gives a slightly paler...

What am I making? ** A sacrificial cutting table **

Thanks Rob. The cellular construction also means it is very resistant to torsion, so I'm finding I can assemble things on it and keep them flat, as well as having the option to fix an F clamp at any position, which is a real bonus.

What am I making? ** A sacrificial cutting table **

Thanks for the ideas guys, and sorry for the delay in responding. I've been involved in the destruction and reinstatement of our kitchen whilst a wall has been knocked out so haven't had my eye on this particular ball. Here is the finished item. Works very well. Dimensions are 3' x 7' so...

    Oil for Oak Doors?

I usually use Osmo PolyX but it does yellow the wood. Having discussed with Terry Smart at Chestnut Oils I used shellac sanding sealer (2 coats) and 2 coats of clear microcrystalline wax on some oak beams for a kitchen. It is noticeably paler than the PolyX test piece.

    Kitchen project

That's really nice Chris. I too like the contrasting timbers. What lighting have you installed? I see you have under unit lights and spots in the ceiling around the lantern. Are these halogens or something a bit more energy efficient?
