    Parquet Floor

If it was 10 years ago we don't have to be kept in suspense about your reclaimed mahogany - did you end up doing it, and did you need a knee replacements afterwards?

Rustins Plastic coating - application temps.

Low temp ******* curing, you can keep catalysed PC on the fridge and it keeps for months. When I used to spray guitars in the cooler months I would leave them in the garage overnight to prevent the finish curing so the next coat would burn into the previous.

    Bathroom Suppliers. Suggestions please!

I got my toilet, sink unit & shower riser/valve/bathfiller from soak, and wasn't particular impressed. Cheaper than most big brands, but you get what you pay for - the toilet casting was distorted, including the spigot for the waste to attach to, so it needed additional silicone to seal worth...

    SCREWDRIVERS

New bits? Screwdriver bits should be considered a consumable and replaced once they get rounded an uncooperative. They can be freshened up with careful filework, but it's rarely worth effort compared to fresh bits.

Issue with Todd Doors' product - suggestions for alternative

Most of Told doors stuff comes from LPD doors, who supply the overwhelming majority of door sellers in the UK. That means you're pretty much on a hiding to nothing trying to find a supplier in the UK who will have doors made differently from these. Go bespoke, and accept the (huge) price...

    Anyone done a glass stair/balustrade? (new: Stain/finish)

Thanks Andy! Not sure I'll go that route, though the colour is very nice in your photos, I'm not sure I fancy spreading something so chemically aggressive over a large area indoors.

UPVC door lock replacement.... retaining screw problems

I going to guess that this is a Fullex or a Yale mechanism. You need to lift the handle of a Fullex to throw the bolts before fitting the screw. There is a keyhole shaped hole in the bar connected to the locking points, so the screw can pass through, but only with the locking points extended...

    Drill bit for ceramic tiles?

Those Bosch multi purpose are great for this, but go slow and learn to resharpen them! If you get them too hot you'll melt the weld which secures the TC tip.

    Anyone done a glass stair/balustrade? (new: Stain/finish)

Right, so I've done the woodwork, and glass has arrived and been test fitted. Before I can fit it finally I need to do some staining/varnishing. The original parts of the stairs are mahogany, and being early 70s probably genuine swietenia. The new woodwork is rather less lovely stuff, meranti...

    door closers options

The anti slam device mentioned earlier is a dictator. Instalation on internal doors can be complicated by architrave profile. Perko do make a hydraulic concealed closer, but it's pricey and a bugger to fit, requiring a beefy door and a deep mortise.

The 'Post a photo of the last thing you made' thread.

I love the "what was the last thing you made" type threads, for their variety and contrast, but I think they should be jumping off point if people have more detailed or explainitary details. A pic on the big thread, then a link to the dedicated post about masking the thing in question would...

    Walk-In Wardrobe Build

A track saw will make angled cuts note then we'll enough for this job, and certainly better than a cheap table saw. If you want a table saw a the backbone of a workshop, then get one, but for this job, and with your specified budget, a tak se is a better buy.

    Anyone done a glass stair/balustrade? (new: Stain/finish)

I have an two open tread staircases in my house, and a 16 week old baby who is threatening to get mobile soon, so I need to address the 1st floor balustrade as a matter of urgency. At the moment is just a slightly flimsy handrail, and an open drop onto the staircase, closed (mostly) by a sofa...
