    Drilling cast iron soil pipe

Bonded-diamond holesaw? Cast iron should cut 'like butta' with a good HSS saw though... Sam

    Help - advice needed

Isolate the "room" (roof?) with some kind of waterproof barrier, with air circulation space between roof and barrier. Put insulation up, preferably tinfoil-faced stuff with seams sealed. That will stop condensation forming on roof underside. I'll leave it to others to comment on walls and...

    do people still text?

I texted my holidaying neighbour last night and she phoned me back later, amongst other things, thanking me for "my SMS message" ....just sayin' Sam.

    Stanley 748

Brest drills are great when your NiCad's droop, the charger is asthmatic, and you need a job done yesterday, certainly in the next 10mins. Trouble is, they have a unique muscle/stance demand, and, unless you develop it with regular/daily use, a prolonged set of holes, will, I assure you, you...

    Baffled by Damp on Walls.

Hmmm...better to be thought a fool than type in a response and confirm it.... :? Screwit! Mike? Whats wrong wiv plaskit windaes? Honest Guv, ah'm baffled. In my experience of aluminium, mahogany, PVC, the latter wins in terms of draughtproofing, cleaning, looks, maintenance. So, go on...

    What we take for granted

1st to 3rd formers, in their ONE class of the week where they can get up, move around, get rid of some pent-up energy, plus flames, sharp edges, live electricity and corrosive substances...just a normal day for a science teacher!! The most regular event for me was in the food test practicals...

    RAS 1251 stand

Hanser, I am interested, but to have it as a secure table for a heavy mortiser, rather than an RAS. Accordingly, if there is interest from DeWalt users, I will step aside. Sam

    Which 1/2 router? My first!

Mike, is it possible we are looking at yours = 'older, better' vs newer = 'rebadged, poorer' constructs of the same platform? Certainly, I can recall this argument of Elu vs Dewalt and (most certainly) Trend half-inch routers. Sam

    What we take for granted

I am a thick plonker....CHRISTMAS!! Steve, having taught 5000 pupils, of varying abilities, over 37 years at the chalk face, I wholly, absolutely agree: take nothing for granted. You can get some real surprises if you do.... Sam

    Niche products, swish marketing?

Wot Nev said covers it for me; I'm off to a productive thread. Sam

    Niche products, swish marketing?

"Marketing is everything if you are selling garbage. The product sells itself if it's any good." No. That is an uninformed, massively ignorant and extremely misleading statement. One of my children earns a very good wage in digital marketing from what I've learnt thereby, I can assure you...

If you are thinking of making new year resolutions...

"Coticules" Chris? They can re-occur you know? The larvae have can be dormant for over 10 years before the adrenalin rush from reading a sharpening thread stimulates them back into life... I'd check - one hand lift, other hand palpate - if I was you... Sam
