    Sizing end grain

My advice remains the same. Size the end grain 50 50 leave till tacky not dry then glue up at full strength.

    Sizing end grain

The op has said he wants to size end grain and is asking for the best way to do it. In hot weather like this I would apply a 50 50 mix to the end grain and leave for 20 mins and then glue up out of the bottle.

Do things have to be millilitre perfect?

Before anyone can answer your question we need to know if you are using hand or power tools and how wide the joint is that you are saying is 1 mm out. Is it out across it's width or depth of both. It would be normal to state the problem in degrees rather than mm.

    Axminster Tools Problem

To be honest I don't think now is the time to complain about customer service from any company trying to survive under very difficult circumstances. There on the face of it is no excuse to have sent you an item that may have been sent back by another customer and may have been destined for...

    A new YouTube channel

If you hadn't come on here the likes of Mikeg or Richard Jones would not have found your vid but I am sure anybody looking to buy the same machine would take the time to watch it. If people are interested in a subject they will watch a vid that is less than studio quality and be grateful for...

Where can I find one of these

I had a similar problem with some hold down clamps I made. I used some 8mm dome head coach bolts to take up the angle and small blocks with a shallow hole to prevent marking the item.

Axminster "precision" combination set square - total joke

If I understood your question I would try to answer it.

Axminster "precision" combination set square - total joke

I can't see the advantage for anybody buying a combination square of any make. Could someone enlighten me as to the advantage of a combination square as opposed to buying a standard square.

    Ruler stops. Recommendations please.

I am not going to say that the Veritas one is better than the Axminster one because I have never seen the Axminster one in the flesh only in photos but I don't think you understand how the Veritas one works. The ribs inside are not what the ruler sits on, within it's range the ruler always sits...

    Ruler stops. Recommendations please.

Another vote for the Veritas rule stop. Looking at a picture of one you may think that it looks expensive but when you see it in the flesh it is a well thought out very well made item and as a plus it fits the Advent rulers perfectly except the 150mm rule. I have just ordered some more rules...

    Stainless steel rulers.

Just to bring this thread to a conclusion I am not a fan of high end overpriced tools but I do like the tools I buy to do the job I wanted them for. Following the recommendation from skelph I purchased a 300mm Advent ruler just to make sure that it was what I wanted the price made me think that...

    Wealden vs Axminster router bits

In my opinion if you have a big job to do with 1 profile bit then buy Wealdon. If you are new to routing and are unsure of what bits you will need then the Trend starter kits are the way to go, you may find that you never need to replace any but if you do then once again Wealden. There is no...

    Diamond Sharpening

If you have set your heart on buying Atoma then I can't help. A few weeks ago I purchased Vaunt diamond stones from ITS at about £20 each and I am very pleased with them but your needs may be very different to mine. All I want is sharp tools with the least effort at the best price.

    Stainless steel rulers.

I am sure there is nothing wrong with the Axminster rulers but they are metric only and I want both metric and inches one on one side and the other on the opposite side . I don't understand why most suppliers don't offer the option. I have ordered an Advent rule at 300mm/12" long to see if they...

    Stainless steel rulers.

Many thanks for all the replies. I am sure that the Fisher rules are very good but at over £40 for the 1 mt rule I think they are above my needs. The Advent rules look to be what I need and they are cheap enough for me to buy two 300mm long ones and cut one down to make a 150mm rule the same...

    Stainless steel rulers.

Many thanks for the replies. I have got 3 Shinwa squares and am very pleased with them and would recommend them to anybody. The problem with the rulers is that they are metric only and for some reason every length is a different width so I would need a stop for each one. The Lee Valley rulers...

    Stainless steel rulers.

I have a stainless rule that is 600mm/24" it is metric on one face and inches on the other. It is 28.5mm wide and 1mm thick and I like the layout and would like to buy a 150mm/6", a 300mm/12" and a 1000mm/36" of the same style of layout, thickness and width so that I could use my ruler stop on...

    Laminated pictures

I wish I could help but I can't. Many years ago I used to buy waterslide transfers from a company in Jersey but sadly they have gone now and I would suspect that the company you are looking for have gone the same way. I would think that printing has moved on and clock faces are made with...

Startrite 301, Kity 613 or other?

I can only comment on the Kity 613, I got mine second hand from a forum member and I could not be more pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. The thing you need to bear in mind is that some of these machines are getting on for 40 years old and they will not all be in good condition...
