Titan 2000w 40cm chainsaw. Anyone used one?

I had a Ryobi petrol chainsaw that lost compression and gave up but I also have the Titan mains one. It was not cutting straight but since I put the Ryobi bar and chain on it cuts beautifully. I make a point of cleaning and sharpening the chain after every use - just a couple of passes with a...

    What a (cooker) knob!

The tacky plastic 'chrome' knobs on my Rangemaster cooker are falling to bits so I ordered a set of new ones. They came from China and we're a nice fit on the shafts of the controllers but missing the protruding centre shaft (see picture with original knob) and for some odd reason this meant...

New to me! German ring turning (reifendreher)

I just came across this. Looks like neat way to knock out large numbers of wood animals (or other shapes) but grain orientation might be an issue

Parts for B&D D265 Power tool table

Hi James, I think those are the clamps for attaching power tools under the table. I have my router attached but my issue is attaching the 'power tool table' to the workmate. B&D supply 'special nuts' (part 32) which allow the table to be slotted in to the keyholes on the frame of the workmate...

Parts for B&D D265 Power tool table

I have acquired a (vintage) Black and Decker D265 power tool table which fits on the Black and Decker Workmate. I would like to use this to set up a router table but I am missing some key parts. Specifically, there was a set of 'special nuts' (part 32) for attaching the table in place of the...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

This would be courting disaster in my house! I do like the idea of a family civilised enough to use such a thing without tipping dishes off it onto the wineglasses below!

I got a lovely set of hollowing tools for my birthday (from shopmonkeypro tools here in Exmouth) so had to have a go. First attempt seemed to be going smoothly until it exploded! Fortunately I was able to find the pieces and glue them back together, sand and finish. I had got down to about 1/16"...

    Washing machine

I screwed a piece of uPVC trim to the floor in front of my Beko washing machine. This prevents it from wandering out of its space. I know it needs new shock absorbers but I have been putting off fitting them because to do so involves taking off the front of the machine to remove the concrete...

You should use it for some raspberry ripple! That really is some gorgeous ripple.

    Speed Awareness Course

I went on one and found it useful. Biggest take away was how little difference is made to overall journey times by pushing over limits. We need to think a bit more about the risks we present to other people when we are driving.

    Mechanical pencil alternative

I have gone for quantity, pencil sized holes drilled in sides of shelves and staedtler black and yellow pencils popped back in whenever I find one. I did get a Zebra Delguard 'unbreakable' propelling pencil and this is great, but I keep it indoors because I know it would get lost in a pile of...

    Sharpening

I made my own gouge sharpening jig, using a template from the internet. Works fine.

Nothing fancy, just a bookstand to keep your place - for my oldest son. A lovely piece of wood with some beautiful figure and just needed 30 degree bevels. Not so simple and using a plane to tidy up saw marks made pieces slightly different widths so joints were not tight, luckily I had a very...

Yet another use for a lathe

I have worn a Seiko 5 automatic wristwatch every day for the last 15 years (a 50th birthday present from my siblings). When I was on a cycling holiday I dropped it on a pebbly beach, chipped the crystal and dislodged one of the hour markers. When I got home I did a bit of googling and found a...

Stuck tailstock help needed- SIP 01936 lathe

Yes, in the first photo. On my lathe the thread on this got stuck so the handle turned but the tailstock was not released. I had to get molegrips on the threaded shaft to free it.

Hi Rob, apologies if this sounds too obvious but have you slackened off the tailstock locking screw?

    Jacob's chuck drawbar question

Good to get a range of opinions and advice. I will be using the Jacob's chuck with drawbar when I need to use it as a drive. I do also have a sanding disc mounted on a faceplate.

I got hold of some green wood today. PVA glue as a sealer?

I have always used leftover bits of emulsion for sealing end grain. If you don't have any I don't imagine it would be difficult to find friends and neighbours who would be happy to offload their leftovers.
