    Keeping workshop warm and dry.

Greenhouse heaters are good for being left unnattended - but probably too weak to make much difference to the damp. Have you considered a 1kw heater on a suitable timer switch? On for an hour or two in the morning and afternoon each day? Might make a bit of a difference.

    Impressive Tool Cabinet

I know Rob Cosman isn't everyone's cup of tea. But fair play to him on this tool cabinet. It's from 2017, but I haven't seen this before - apologies if it's old news.

    Is Mike G ok?

    Because UKworkshop members built them!!!

    Tool Wall Panel Organiser

Looks great. Like the use of the homemade hooks. Are there straight pins as well? Did you make those from the same steel rod?

    Astronomy and Cosmology.

I've shown that Star Size Comparison video to so many classes. You can see their brains exploding! They ask to watch it again and again for weeks.

    Astronomy and Cosmology.

I remember watching clips of the early discoveries - just from looking at such small areas of the sky. From about 2:40 onwards

Is your Google-fu stronger than mine?

If you have suitable 15mm bar - can you fabricate something out of hardwood for the 'clamp' part? I know bolts are the same pitch of thread, but assuming that mortises come in batches once you set the clamp for the first one, it will just need a small amount of loosening and tightening each time...

    Top cupboards (completed)

Great work - very impressed with the doors. Where are the other cabinets going to be?

    Workshop security

I had a battery operated alarm for my shed. It had to go inside the shed with the shed locked up and the house windows closed I couldn't hear it from the house! (12-15metres away) The battery ones tend to be one unit and that has to be inside and dry. If that's still the case you might find...

Can you do a sketch and take a picture of the sketch to show us?

    Free Helping Hand?

Awesome attitude - you'll go far. You probably already know this place: https://www.communitywoodrecycling.org.uk/stores/just-wood-leicestershire/ Looks like they have volunteers working there to make stuff to sell in their shops.

Retraining at a (slightly) older age.

Just a thought - have you considered somewhere like this? They train volunteers and can probably point you in the right direction for local contacts and colleges. Might even help you get on a college course if you have some experience and places are tight. At the worst - good supplier of wood...

Retraining at a (slightly) older age.

With a house move coming. I would stay in your job! No matter how carefully you have budgeted - fences will blow down, pipes will leak, you'll find problems and you will go over budget. Your house will become a big project for you and you will spend a lot of time fitting out your new workshop...

    Not quite there

You're never too old. Weigh up all the positive benefits that you get from what you are doing - workshop time with a cup of tea and the radio on is worth its weight in gold. You can make things - which the vast majority of the population cannot do at all. Maybe have a change of focus for a...

    Maths Question!!!

It does make your head hurt. Just an observation if number crunching isn't your thing: At 1/10 scale you could draw the triangle on a sheet of A4 paper 3m (300cm) becomes 30cm, 1.7m high (170cm) becomes 17cm and then your planks can be drawn on with lines 12mm or 15mm apart, depending on the...

    Mitre corners

Same as above - surely only the top ones need to be mitred? Or a separate top piece about the size of a decking plank attacked and mitred. Surely people will be looking more at the plants and flowers than the bottom three levels of sleepers??!!
