Kitchen making and extraction hood height

As Doug71 said, there are minimum heights for cooker hoods according to the regulations, but no maximum. The manufacturers instructions take priority over the regulations. In theory, you can put it up as high as you want, but as has already been mentioned, the efficiency will suffer. Some...

    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

Seems as though that may be just the ticket....👍

    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

Thanks for the comments & suggestions. I have a number of 16a sockets dotted around my workshop, all of which were purchased at Screwfix about 2 years ago, mainly for possible future use, but only 2 are used regularly. I tried the P/T plug in a couple of the other sockets and it was...

    Wadkin ags 10 Lock Nut

Forget the vernier jaws....just look at the arbor thread....it looks bent!

    Wadkin ags 10 Lock Nut

My thoughts exactly! A good clean with a wire wheel may help. As suggested by yourself, it's most likely to be an imperial thread!

.......Is it just me, or does something look bent in that picture...? Optical illusion perhaps?

    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

I was using my Hammer A3 31 planer thicknesser quite a bit over the weekend ( hadnt used it for about 5 weeks) and decided to change to new knives. Over the two days, I ended up plugging in and unplugging the 16amp plug a few times and it struck me as being far more difficult to do than I...

    Machine Wax

Axminster Machine Wax......I've had my tin for years.....A little goes a long way. I treat the bed of my lathe, planer thicknesser, bandsaws, router tables, track saw rails, base of all my routers,.....basically anything that could potentially rust or requires a minimal of friction as possible.

Can I use a CNC cutter in my router?

I cant remember whether I heard him use the term " ER20" or not, so dont hold me to that. Coincidentally, I was edge routing some large woodgrain MFC panels today using an 8mm carbide compression cutter.....very happy with the quality of the finish!

Can I use a CNC cutter in my router?

If I remember correctly, his machine has a 2500mm x 1300mm cutting capacity and it has a large water cooled spindle, that I think can take up to 20mm dia shank (ER 20 seems to spring to mind....?). It has a 3 phase supply feed with a dedicated 3 phase cyclone dust extractor and has a vacuum bed...

Can I use a CNC cutter in my router?

For additional longevity, a friend of mine who owns a CNC business, started looking at PCD cutters for his spindle about 18 months ago. He was cutting a lot of MFC/ MRMDF material for me at the time and was getting through a lot of solid carbide compression cutters. He decided to order a PCD...

Can I use a CNC cutter in my router?

A compression spiral cutter gives a far superior cut on man made, pre finished boards, such as MFC and MFMDF. A normal straight bladed, twin flute tungsten carbide tipped cutter does a reasonable job, but not as good as the spiral compression cutter.

    What van do I buy?

I also have a VW Transporter van 2004, which also has a 2.5litre engine.....Its only done 150k miles, but had to have a new engine at 90k.....its also on its 3rd turbo.....So, in my experience, the Renault was a far better buy.

    What van do I buy?

I have a 2006 Renault Traffic 2.5litre that I bought new.....Its done nearly 220k miles and is still going strong......It still has it's original battery & exhaust system.......Its the best vehicle I've ever owned for the money it has cost me......If I had to, I'd buy another one tomorrow, but I...

Can I use a CNC cutter in my router?

I regularly use 8mm solid carbide compression cutters in a hand held router without any issues. As mentioned by others,.....One thing to be aware of is feed rate.....If your feed rate is too slow, it will wear the cutter out rather quickly. I mainly use mine on man made material, rather than...

    Festool dtsc 400 review

That is a bargain!!!.....Even without the charger. I've had the 240v version for a number of years now and find it really useful. ( Bought mine second hand from a member of this Forum)

Is there a definitive pillar drill - new or used - that is better than the Bosch PBD40 for the same money?

I have a Startrite Mercury Mk 3 bench mounted drill that I bought on Gumtree a few years back for £125.......No discernable runout and absolutely minimal Arc of Shame. .....Ive been more than happy with mine......I did add a NVR switch in line to the motor though. A good mate of mine picked up...
