    Your most useful clamps

I do virtually all my clamping with either Record G clamps mainly 6" or Record sash clamps . Not the most modern of designs, They just work

    A different take on dominoes

I think you havetotally missed the point both of my original post and the pros and cons of biscuit jointers and dominoes I have used lose splines and loose tennons long before either toot was common place, A loose tennon is a standard approach to repairing broken tennons in old furniture. I do...

Workshop design suggestions - L Shaped garden room

A panel saw to effectively handle 8X4 sheets needs a ridiculous amount of room. I would do all sheet cutting with a track saw and use the sawbench for solid material final cut to size and other operations. My saw is a similar size to yours but I mainly use a smaller table without the swinging...

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

You really need to get a proper hands on experience with an experienced operator to get a proper feel for what is happening. arm chair critiquing (please dont take offence) does cover the practicalities of this kind of job. YouTub contains some excellent advice as well as some total carp...

    A different take on dominoes

The pieces joined were 13mm, The joint gives strength and alignment I am sure with a bit of thought the domino could be machined in batches. The advantages of ply is that you effecticvly have a strong finger joint at the corner

Full length fence, no crown guard. Properly adjusted crown guard would have stopped the piece lifting and then the blade pushing it back

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

Lots on this thread about how to push pieces through the saw and where to/not to put your fingers (Basically Jacob is right (I never thought Id asy that:)). Nobody has really commented on causes of kickback Use a blade that is correct for the task being done Make sure your blade is sharp Make...

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

I dislike roller stands as unless they are set up perfectly they tend to steer the timber as it is being passed over them. The roller ball stands are much better and do not steer the material

    A different take on dominoes

One of the problems with pulling up long mitres is getting effective pressure across the joint and stopping everything sliding about. Biscuits or splines can help but may be too big to fit if say wanting to cut a lid off after glue up Stage 1 take the boards to be mitred about 1mm overlength and...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Ash and walnut sideboard with starburst pattern I started doing this as a project write up but never finished it Sides and base are solid ash. The top and doors are birch ply with 2mm bandsawn veneers and then inlaid with 4mm walnut strips. Semicircular pieces of wild grain walnut were inlaid...

Router Cutter Diameters for a Dado in Ply

It might be the back but it could be structural glued all round so might need a decent fit

Router Cutter Diameters for a Dado in Ply

You need to check the thickness of your ply. Quite a lot of plywood is actually undersize so some 6mm ply is actually 5.5mm

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

2 very clear messages in this Use the right blade for the job. It only takes 1 or 2 minutes to change a blade and you probably save most of that time back with a better quality of cut and less clean up Just like any hand tool, a worn/blunt blade means people use more force and in doing so lose...

    Parkinson Vice Misbehaving

Hi Steve. Looking at the video I would say you have way too much play in the slides as the whole front face/slides / sccrew move a lot. I had the same vice as Lons shows and there was minimal movement.

    Clifton Number 3 Plane Blade

We are very good at bashing British manufacturers. It will be interesting to see how Clifton resolve Segovias problem (they should replace ) Yes we/manufacturers can all make errors with what we send out it is how it is dealt with that is important.

    Clifton Number 3 Plane Blade

The side of the blade has a definite low point which I dont think is acceptable but the rest of the back of te blade needs quite a lot of flattening/polishing before you will get a good result
