Next up - gear cutting/ gear cutters!

Ah. - appologies, I should have said that it is Windows only - I don't have the nouse to write for the dark side :)

Next up - gear cutting/ gear cutters!

Imperative reading for anyone who has any interest in gear-cutting. @Chris152 You may be interested in looking at a program I wrote a couple of years ago called [Involute] which displays the true image of an involute form gear tooth which can also be printed for use as a shadowgraph template...

    Oak Writing Desk

I agree Ian, but as the desk top is supported by the two pedestals with something like 600mm between them, the chance of 'flexing' is somewhat slim. The Desk in question is apparently about 750 x 1500mm.

    Oak Writing Desk

I've had further thoughts on this matter and suggest that if (when?) you do go down this route, rather than use a butt joint, (with mortice & tenon / loose tenon / dowel / domino) - a mitred half-lap might be more 'elegant'. It would be a little more challenging but I think well worth while...

Next up - gear cutting/ gear cutters!

You appear to be approaching this subject from an academic viewpoint - rather than a 'need to make' one. Gear Cutters for use with a dividing head come in sets of 8 - FOR EACH DIFFERENT DP or MOD. Dependent upon the manufacturer, the one for a Rack is either N°1 or N°8 with each N° handling...

    Adjustable reamer chatter

They are close to 29/32 & 25/32 but those are undersize in all cases.

Next up - gear cutting/ gear cutters!

I agree that 30 or 60 plates are unlikely to be available, I was trying (and apparently succeeding) to give the OP the basic principle. I ought to have used 27 and 21 which would have given 3T9H and 3T7H - hindsight is always useful :)

Next up - gear cutting/ gear cutters!

Dividing heads are not just used to make gears. They can be used to create 'flats' at specific angles to each other, specifically squares and hexagons, but actually and polygon you happen to need. Gear cutting often requires an odd number of 'turns' plus 'holes' depending upon the number of...

Are we being ripped off by tool retailers?

Firstly - [10" diametral pitch] doesn't make sense. You may of course mean that the Pitch Diameter is 10" - - - if that IS the case then the DP is 1.7, If the OD is 10" then the DP is 1.9 but I'll ignore that thought for now. The OD would be 11.176", the Root 8.529". Making certain...

    Bandsaw guide bearings.

Simply Bearing list them at £2.51 (from memory!)

    Bandsaw guide bearings.

Not specifically for Skate Board wheels - that's a standard code 608 with whatever pre or post anotation to indicate type of shielding etc. With so many 'Standard' bearings available, I can't see why (or even how) any manufacturer of any item that needs bearings would ever consider specifying...

    Oak Writing Desk

Hmm. . . I have little knowledge of the wood-stains that you cite in your PM nor finishing that area of Oak. The only job in this class that I've done was a re-furb of an G-Plan table where the centre fold-out section had been protected simply by dint of non use and had retained its original...

    TV advertising quality!

I recently found this out and the 'Pick-up-point' is some 4 minutes drive to an area of the town that I've never previously visited in over 20 years! The estimated 3-4 day delivery took 36 hours :)

    Joke Thread 5

Below 20Hz it's unlikely that any human would 'hear' it ! (I know it's a 'joke' - but they should 'work')

    Thin drawers

That occured to me as well. Using 'Wire work' could well be OK though.

    Thin drawers

I'd suggest a pull out rack for the vertical space, though that depends upon whether you fit a base for the horizontal drawer. . . . . . . All manner of options for use present themselves once you have a 'rack'. Have a look at the Häfele Pull Out Storage unit ...
