I had a Woodstar BS12 which I sold to buy a Record BS14. This one was fubar and needed everything replacing, but it was so cheap it was well worthwhile. I noticed when changing the guide bearings that they were the same size as the Woodstar - 22mm x 7mm with an 8mm bore. These I found are easily obtained, they are standard bearings for skateboard wheels, so if you measure yours and they are this size you're in luck.

It's little hints, tricks and shared info like this that makes the world go around - Cheers Phil, even though I will probably never ever need it, someone out there may & good on you for posting. (y)
It would be funny if someone on a skateboard forum found out they could buy bandsaw bearings for their wheels too

Are they of the same quality ? Also are we saying that skateboards use a common component yet most other manufacturers seem to go out of there way to be different .

Not specifically for Skate Board wheels - that's a standard code 608 with whatever pre or post anotation to indicate type of shielding etc.

With so many 'Standard' bearings available, I can't see why (or even how) any manufacturer of any item that needs bearings would ever consider specifying a 'Special' size.

Generally much cheaper to get your bearing and take it to a local supplier to match up. These, along with belts etc, are just the sort of parts where the manufacturers really take you for a ride. And you often find that the original parts aren't even that great quality, especially on the cheaper machines.

As far as I know, bearing have common sizing, & that parts are produced to accept the appropriate size bearing.

And you will often find that a top quality bearing from a specialist will be far cheaper than the fairly mediocre ones often supplied by the manufacturer, especially true on cheaper machines.
Be careful buying on places like e bay. Bearings are some of the most widely counterfeited items on earth. Stick to good outlets like simply bearings. They also do a massive range of seals, belts and so on.
Well worth finding your nearest actual bearing supplier, can be very handy when you need something quickly.
