    Domino or Jessem's creation.....

If I saw that before buying my Domino I probably would have considered it, but now I'm not exactly tempted to rush out and sell my Domino(s) to get one of these! The jessem looks slow and fiddly, and to be honest I've already forgotten how much I spent on the DF500 (or I don't want to think...

    Grrrrr...Milwaukee, what a con.

Yep I checked this afternoon and my CXS does indeed state that it's made in the Czech Republic. All of my other Festool tools say Germany, though I have a feeling some accessories said made in China on the packaging, though it's possible I'm misremembering... We're talking centrotec drill bits...

    Grrrrr...Milwaukee, what a con.

I'll double check tomorrow but I'm sure my cxs says it was made in the Czech Republic, can't remember about my Domino or tracksaw though 🤔

    Joke Thread III

Have you ever worked in retail? Customers attempts at humour get pretty tiring so you learn to block out 99% of what anyone says to you! Sounds like he was trying not to engage in the hope you'd be gone sooner 🤣

    MFT and torsion boxes

Probably, but how much pressure are you expecting to exert on one of these clamps? Worked for me anyway, though admittedly I have other clamps that I prefer so they're not exactly being abused on a daily basis.

    MFT and torsion boxes

It's a bit of a hassle but if you cut away some of the metal at the outside of the bend with an angle grinder you can make it work.

Where to get wood in the UK? (specifically Devon)

MJN in Bovey Tracey carry a decent range of kiln dried hardwoods, can be cut and planed to whatever size you need. I've not bought from them for a while but their prices seemed fair to me. Only downside is you need to order in advance (phone or email), apparently their insurance doesn't cover...

Decimal point is in the wrong place I think....

Ha I like that, clearly I was too good to make it as a bad painter, let's just forget that I wasn't good enough to be the other sort 😂

Decimal point is in the wrong place I think....

Nah selling cabinets and furniture is a lot easier than selling paintings unless you're exceptionally lucky! The artist's supplies market is quite specialised and very well saturated already, though if you've got a few local artists it wouldn't hurt to put out some feelers if you're interested...

Decimal point is in the wrong place I think....

It's a braced and primed panel for oil or acrylic painting, you're looking at a world where a tube of paint can easily cost £100 for certain pigments. I'd never pay that myself because I've always made my own panels and stretched my own canvases, but a professional artist working to deadlines...

    Affordable vs Pride

That's just it, often it's not about money but actually getting a tradesman who understands what you want and delivering that. In my example the customer wanted a very simple wardrobe, all made from birch ply with flat panel sliding doors and simple holes for finger pulls. One row of drawers...

    Affordable vs Pride

As rogxwhit says, reasonable to one customer is expensive to another, you can't really win! It helps to know what your "competition" are charging - maybe your quotes aren't sticking because they've had a cheaper quote elsewhere. I did a huge wardrobe for a customer last year - I was the third...

    Small 12v drill/drivers

Hi @BucksDad , I've been meaning to post a closing statement of sorts on this thread so your post is a handy prompt, thanks! Hope you enjoy the drill, I've only used mine a few times so far but it seems a really nice bit of kit, and the right angle adapter has already saved my backside in a...

Got myself a nice little bargain yesterday

Got to love Trago, did you see the pigs while you were there? I was shocked by their plywood prices last time I went, you used to be able to pick it up proper cheap and it wasn't the worst quality in the world either. Still that's just the world we're living in now, it's still the cheapest...

Out of level alcove cupboards, ideas and opinions please

I'd be tempted to make the cabinets a little lower - maybe 20-30mm below the dado rail. That way you can get away with making the tops nearly level-ish and the doors can be nearly square. Dead level would show up the wonky dado but a slight discrepancy would be pretty easy to get away with this...

    No No's on projects

I've only ever driven 4 Robertson screws (came with a veritas vice) and I've got to admit they were nice to use, luckily I had a suitable driver bit from a set I had! You just don't see them in the UK though, pozi is the standard here with torx gradually gaining ground. I only use slotted...

    No No's on projects

100% with you on that, any screws on show should be slotted and all clocked to face the same way. I've been called OCD for that before but it really gives a tidy finish!

FFX 15% off at Ebay shop

I ordered a few bits after very careful searching and cross referencing, the 15% deal saved me a few quid but not nearly as much as they'd have you believe 😂

    Small 12v drill/drivers

You're an absolute legend, thanks Doug. I'll do some digging on the FOG but it looks simple enough, never would've thought of that myself 👍

Router bits for stile and rail advice please

I suspect you'll be fine putting 6mm MDF panels in a 6.35mm groove, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's designed to make assembly easier. Where you'll run into trouble is if you ever want to use a ply panel - as I said before plywood is almost always thinner than the stated dimension, though...
