HELP I need a new desktop PC

Apologies @HOJ , completely forgot to mention the HP Elitedesks by and large use DisplayPort (though not always) Plenty on Amazon, only a few quid. Also, it may or may not have Bluetooth and WiFI, these ex-corporate machines can be a bit of a lottery regarding peripherals, if you need any help...

HELP I need a new desktop PC

If you want to have a play with various Linux distro's before committing to installing one on a hard drive, I'd recommend Ventoy It's a bootable USB that allows you to drag and drop ISO's (Zorin, Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Linux Lite, etc etc) Boot from the Ventoy USB stick, then try a distro before...

HELP I need a new desktop PC

Which Model of Lenovo Ideapad is it? If it only has a single drive, IE no m.2 NVMe + SSD, then I'd reconsider dual booting Windows and Linux off the same drive, if you ever decide one or the other isn't to your liking, you'll find it's the devils own job to remove, say Linux and leave Windows...

HELP I need a new desktop PC

@HOJ when the new machine turns up, you could clone your existing installation using rescuezilla, super easy to use, download, copy to USB stick, boot from the stick and clone your existing installation to a new drive (SSD preferably) Then just unplug the data cable from the motherboard, and...

HELP I need a new desktop PC

^^ This is the way to go, Apple and MS are just too prohibitive, it's their way or learn to jump through hoops, and be constantly annoyed at stuff you have no interest in, being installed behind your back. I made the switch to Linux a couple of years ago, never looked back, personally I'd avoid...

My Woodwork Journey is about to begin - Total Beginner - I may need your advice.

I've made loads like those, the beauty of them is, they don't even need clamping while the glue catches, masking tape on all edges, job done.

Is this a Router Option A, or is this a Router Option B ?

Garbage in, Garbage out. You need to be a bit more specific than just 'Router', that's why there's a drop-down menu to the left of the input box, leaving it at the default 'All' will display anything associated with the word 'Router'

    Beginner router kit

As above, way too long for a trim router, Makita or otherwise. Mortising you need a 1/2" router, and depending how deep you go, even that will scream making small passes once you get deep enough. Drill out the bulk of the mortise with a forstner or lip and spur bit first. Just as an aside, 'cos...

    Trim edge banding?

Joiner I used to pair with used his tape measure to trim edging, not real wood veneer I hasten to add. I could never figure how he did it, but he was just used to it, he'd extend the tape maybe 12", the measure itself in one hand, and the end in the other, then just slice down the full length...
