    Electric vehicles

98% of cobalt used in batteries is a by product of copper mining. Nobody seemed to care when they bought a laptop, tablet, camera or mobile phone. Will you stop flying as well, as some modern passenger aircraft rely on large lithium batteries...

    Haircut

I used to cut my hair every three or even four weeks. Some time ago I felt the need to increase it to every two weeks. It looked a bit long today so I gave it a trim, I’d only cut it ten days ago. Anyone else have this issue? I suppose it could be worse, I could be bald, wouldn’t want that this...

    Electric vehicles

New EV batteries in development are even less likely to catch fire so we should be concentrating on the positives. https://batteriesnews.com/battery-electric-vehicles-safer-alternative-reduced-fire-risks/...

    Electric vehicles

I believe you mean a lack of public chargers. “Infrastructure” infers everything required to charge an EV and that isn’t the case. https://www.nationalgrid.com/stories/journey-to-net-zero-stories/can-grid-cope-extra-demand-electric-cars

“Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20161026-how-liars-create-the-illusion-of-truth Nearly all the myths made up about electric cars have been disproven but it doesn’t stop those with an agenda repeating them. One of the really obvious ones...

    "Excalibur" scroll saws

I just read this on another forum, no idea if it’s correct though? “The new Excalibur is made in China and is a reversed engineered saw. The King scroll saw is made in Taiwan in the same factory as the Pegas.”

Yes, it’s a bit wet here today as well, and very windy at times.

I watched a YouTube video some time ago. In it they said that any advanced civilisation would get 99% of its energy needs from its local star. Using this metric we seem to be a long way off from being anywhere near advanced.🫤 Of course it doesn’t help when a well known American talking head...

    Global Warming

Well I don’t know about that but it’s 13°C here in Dorset at the moment. I don’t remember it being this warm in December when I was a kid? 🤔

Many of those that dislike the concept of electric vehicles seem to be under the impression that their polar opposites simply or perhaps solely see them as a panacea for global warming etc. I’m personally more concerned about the reduction in local air pollution that EV’s can provide.

    What's this lathe?

From what I’ve read those chucks are quite serviceable if you have all the bits. They aren’t particularly user friendly though which is probably why they died out and were replaced with scroll chucks. Have a look at the Nova or Record Power chucks, there are often good deals about and the jaws...

This could be the big game changer for car production. Several companies are saying they will be selling EV’s for £20K in a couple of years. https://www.autoblog.com/2023/10/11/ford-hyundai-follow-teslas-lead-buy-gigapresses-from-casting-machine-maker-idra/

Looking on the net, around 16% of new car sales in the UK were EV’s in 2023. I’m not sure but I think it was up about 35% on last year. New ICE prices are going up and EV prices are coming down. Given that EV’s are half the cost per mile to run, once purchase price parity is reached in the next...

On the topic of batteries it’s still relatively early days for EV’s. I can’t find the article I read a couple of weeks ago but this Google find will suffice. https://technode.global/2023/09/28/the-innovative-technology-behind-near-fireproof-electric-vehicle-batteries/

Yes they do and yes they have. One was shown on TV some years back. It was just sitting outside someone’s house when it caught fire. EV’s are 20 times less likely to catch fire than an ICE vehicle...
