A garage full of wood to give away

So pleased that idea had wings!

    Standard woodworking glues

Great minds indeed etc. Sellotape as a mask is viable in some situations.

Fixing sandpaper to a flat board

I resorted to this when I dropped a precious low angle paring chisel and took a little corner off. I didn't feel confident in taking it to the 6" grinder. I bought 3M double sided tape from Screwfix to hold down abrasive paper to a piece of 18mm ply and used an old Record honing guide. The tape...

    Which saw... BandSaw?

My new Axminster two wheel 10" from the 'Workshop' range is delight to use, re-sawed 1/2" x 4" stuff virtually straight out of the box. Seems to answer your needs, I bought their excellent mitre fence and two Axcaliber blades at the same time, with the bonus that the fence fits my Dewalt table...

    Standard woodworking glues

Have you tried leaving the little extruded glue line to almost go off and then clearing it away with a sharp chisel? Works for the 'foamy' stuff too.

8” Mitre Saw Recommendations - Makita LS0816F vs Hikoki C8FSHG

Bump! The above was a serious question. A link or reference would do?

    Joke Thread 5

I don't know if this is appropriate for the thread as it is true, but Uncle Fred told me this on my first visit in uniform after I joined the navy, guess he thought I was old enough to hear it...it's prompted by seeing a YouTube on glass fluorescent H.V. sign making. He finished his time...

8” Mitre Saw Recommendations - Makita LS0816F vs Hikoki C8FSHG

What is 'trenching'? An in word for housing? A flat dado cut? How I used to grow celery? What makes a saw capable of trenching? O tempora, o mores! I must get out more....

    Joke Thread 5

A long one, but it might amuse one or two of you... The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.'...

    What is this?

Doe it look like 2 pairs of hacksaw blades joined in a square with a longer one across a diagonal?

    Two QUICK Shop TIPS:

I have a rolled-up length of old-fashioned underlay 3/4" wide pushed into a Cherry Blossom polish tin that sits in my bench well with the lid just pushed on that I use to wipe plane soles, chisels etc. Must be 20 years old..

    Porch Pirates

The French have a saying "Who would steal an egg, would steal a cow..." No one pulls off a Brinks Matt job for their first crime. Sadly Terry is right.

    Two QUICK Shop TIPS:

Bless you, I was looking for something more basic, my cooking Scotch I splash quite generously, my sipping Scotch I treat more kindly. As Phil has posted, my Tomatin 12 Yr old gets a teaspoonful of boiled cooled water in a generous measure which will last me all evening. I am not a bibulous...

    Two QUICK Shop TIPS:

I would love a device with which to replace the screw top of a 1ltr soda water bottle fitted with a long tube and a button or trigger to dispense just a splash of soda for my post-prandial Scotch. I have Googled it, but with 16,000 answers offered in 0.8secs I gave up.

    A wooden bandsaw ... scary ...

In 1974-6 when I was stationed in Malta GC there was one in a chair-making shop in Naxxar, IIRC, belt driven from a little I/C engine.

    Tool collecting addiction

...some bevel edged chisels, but the duplicates are ground 20-25 degrees for Intricate softwood stuff, I had to when I made a cold frame from salvaged cedarwood.

    Two QUICK Shop TIPS:

Another thing that benefits from 'fridge storage is coffee, both instant (dust of the devil) and ground. The volatile oils that impart much of the odour/flavour evaporate at room temperature so it is worth keeping it cool. I'd go without beer for my morning Colombian cafetiere.

    Joke Thread 5

Every time I see something like this I thank God my wonderful, clever, much loved daughter Claire, of whom I am so proud, managed to grow to maturity before 'soshall meeja' drilled it's way into her psyche like a teredo worm.

    What tree is this

I have recently seen a YT video in which a woodturner nailed discs of plywood to the ends of 'logs' with a bituminous substance before putting them aside to dry to prevent splitting. I remember a willow breadboard in my mother's kitchen.
