Phew, you do seem to dislike it yet every single independent review of the MG4 and MG5 is favourable saying the exact opposite of your experience.. It is a little bit of a 'Marmite' car, love it or hate it with no middle ground. I like all of the design except the back end. It's an...

There isnt a single EV I know of that doesnt nag you to death when range is becoming short. Most link into inbuilt Sat Nav and start to show you where charging points are.

Not true, most of the issues with ECU's relate to input and output circuitry, these can be fixed with no issues to the coded data. I agree if it's reverse polarity jump start type of situation it's unlikely that they could fix that without access to main dealer tech.

I have seen the info before about battery swap systems and it really will not work for all of the reasons stated. Theres an article in Autocar years ago about Hydrogen, how good it was and it would be the saviour of ICE, look where we are! Time will tell, I'll wager it wont happen. It'll only...

That's why I said there are third party companies around that will repair / rebuild ECU's. They do this to the original ECU so it doesn't need coding / main deal access.

I'd have to disagree with you on this one, theyre connected into climate control generally either with refrigerant directly or by water / antifreeze via a heat exchanger. My i3 has refrigerant lines directly into the battery and the AC compressor runs when rapid charging. Agreed

Battery swapping would increase the cost of EV's due to the additional equipment needed. The practicalities of it dont add up. You cant simply slide in and out a battery pack of these weights without some serious engineering in both the car and the site equipment. The problems associated with...

Some of that is true but not to such a great degree these days, lots of third party companies that can rebuild / repair ECU's etc. There are a lot of mechanical failures that will condemn a car to scrap - Ford Wet Belt engines are a complete disaster, Ford Powershift DSG Gearbox likewise so not...

It depends on how the table is scored. Many of them are customer satisfaction scores rather than real reliability scores. I have to say from all what I have read, MG UK is dreadful for customer service, then again so is JLR and many others. On the Range Rover forum for instance, a lot fo 405...

It's a good first step. What in particular made you feel the build quality wasnt good? My Audi Allroad managed 270,000 miles and my VW Touareg 190,000 and still wanted for nothing, running sweet as a nut, no issues. Prior to these cars I had a Mercedes Sprinter van, 500,000 miles, never...

Absolutely, we need to get our act together. In the late 60's / early 70's the Japanese made inroads into the UK motorcyle industry resulting in decimation of it. Actually 3092 coal fired power stations BUT 35% and rising of their electricity is now from renewables.

I agree there are loads of cars on the roads ovger 10 years old, what I said was vehicles of this age are unlikely to be garage maintained at £60 per hour labour charge and will more likely be run into the ground and then scrapped. My underwear is definitely not twisted and agreed life is very...

    Electric vehicles

Average life of a car using garage maintenance I would gues at around 10 years, after that time, they will be run into the ground and then scrapped. Any business owner should be looking for more than 10 years future IMHO. Entirely your choice and Ive never suggested anything different. I'll be...

Many are 800v nowadays but this still doesnt create a greater risk for an insurer, no flammable liquids, very little heat etc. Of course that goes without saying. Garages that arent continuing CPD wont be in business very much longer EV's or not. ICE vehicles are 10x more likely to burn than...

I have, twice with no subsidies and even if there was additional charges I would still buy EV because it's so much better. That will soon top be a business dying then over the next few years. Daft outlook really. on what grounds? If customers of insurance companies allow them to get away with...

I'm really appreciative to all of those ICE muppets you people still paying a fortune for your fuel helps fund the countries tax burden and keeps it away from me so thank you all. Furthermore, the more you guys keep knocking EV's the lower the demand is which drives the prices down a new MG5...
