    And I chose Makita batteries...

I look for battery tool X. My comparison is Makita (bare tool) vs brand X, tool + battery + charger? @RobNichols would you explain your logic please "... and the response to that would be an increase in the cost of tools." I can guess (with no knowledge) but...

    And I chose Makita batteries...

After 40 yrs working with (software) standards, I'd disagree based on my experience.

    And I chose Makita batteries...

IMHO more fools them? No company is better than a wide standardisation?

    And I chose Makita batteries...

I disagree? Cooperation (W3C?) is much better for 'customers' than competition?

    And I chose Makita batteries...

Surely standardisation wins in the long haul?

    And I chose Makita batteries...

Came across ampshare which sounds like a great idea... and I chose (and stuck to) Makita.

    Planning application

So totally untrustworthy? And I would still insist it is not a quote, it's a (very vague) estimate?

    Planning application

So it's not a quote? Ask for one, all inclusive, that is reliable.

    WORKBENCH EDGEING

I went cheap with softwood edging, screwed on. It gets banged up quite a bit and is easy to change (and cheaper than good wood) every couple of years.

Tree removal, which type of drill?

Compass saw. New one on me. Keyhole saw? Any other names?

Tree removal, which type of drill?

All done. Working with my neighbour, from both sides! Apologies to whoever, the reciprocating saw (10" blade) was of use, hate the vibration. Last roots well hidden, stump up against an old wooden post hole concrete! Thanks for the help.
