Guy I'm from Derry but living in Belfast. What about yourself? Thanks for the advice, that makes sense to me. I have my scraps collected and will order a dozuki and possible one of the guide markers to help draw the dovetails. Been watching the vids on youtube, I feel it should be within my...

Sourced some scrap wood so good to get started now on the practicing. Axminster (sp) seem to be selling a jap Dozuki for around 20 quid which seems reasonable, so will probably start with that, my own coping saw and a chisel for the waste. Will look into this tannin issue a bit more, go-go...

I am determined to give this a go, if I fail then I'm only out my time and the wood, its no huge deal. I don't want to use pine, it's just not the finish I am after. However, if there are other hardwoods out there that I could consider, by all means I am all ears? Apart from mahogany, it's...

Yeah the pictures are AWFUL! I will take some better ones this evening with my DSLR and give you a better idea of the finished product. Yep, Technics 1210s along with a Pioneer DJM600, CDJ1000 and CDJ800. Got the best of both worlds, I love vinyl but it's just too damn expensive :oops...

Yep screws countersunk every 2 inches and jointed with PVA as well, very sturdy. The actual dice are bolted together and bolted to the top with M12 bolts and nyloc nuts, sounds quite agricultural but they aren't seen and means they are easily dismantled! Liking the look of your stand below...

Thanks for the advice and welcome guys. I am a novice to dovetails but not to working with wood, it's something I'd like to attempt and I'm fairly determined to give this project a go, so any more advice on a suitable material would be greatly appreciated :) And as for the dovetails, I will...

For example, what would be wrong with using something like the following 245x20mm planed square edged white oak http://www.roncurrie.co.uk/hardwoods.htm

Thanks for the advice - I wouldn't be in the position to plane my own raw boards to size. I'm also not too keen on oak veneer, prefer solid oak if possible. Pre-planed - why do you say this is not such a good idea? Are there any other nice hardwoods you could recommend instead? Not so keen...

Hi, Just joined the forum for some advice on another project I am planning. However in the mean time, I thought I'd post up my last creation. Please note I work as an accountant, so I am a far cry from some of the talented wood workers on here, but I enjoy it and can do ok! I do a little...
