    Advice for Extending Workbench?

Just alter the base and install a shelf so what it holds will increase the mass and it will be fine remember you have to pull it across to the central position. My small softwood bench with cupboard and draws takes some moving.

My dust extraction plans - please comment

My suggestion would be stick to original proposal and have a vent back to the shop from the lean to at high level, looking at my situation very little dust would find its way back. Also note if you open up the air input to the stove its much less likely to smoke

    Advice for Extending Workbench?

To be honest i can not see the point of this, just a 12" extension what advantage do you get .There for i suggest you make a cupboard or draw unit with adjustable legs to line up the tops. A better mod would be a sliding support unit for the existing bench to support long boards when planing...

    Home Cinema System

I think the answer to the question is yes .My tuner amp does not have hdmi so i use a optical input from sky box to provide tv sound to the 5.1 system. It all depends on the inputs available on the sony kit.

Modify the suspension fitting so the bolt /threaded rod goes all the way through the 8" timber and just use them there are lots of post and beam structures with splits working harder than your posts.

    Electric nailers

''Are these any good for driving into 18mm ply or the average hardwood?'' No not realy remember you are nailing through timber before you hit the 18mm wood or if its through the 18mm first you need say a 25+ long nail . Air power is the way to go get a compressor (small one 25ltr) a connecting...

Wheel nuts wrong way round. I'm not a bloke. Its official!

Extra force is required to undo the jambed nuts see if you can use your foot to apply the force this can also tend to pull the brace/spanner of the nut so a prop may be required , once set up you can use your full body weight also a tube can be used to lengthen a spanner to increase the force.

New home for my woodturning....update 9.12.10

As a retired railway man i can tell you how the underground stations and workshops under bridges are damp controlled .Curved corrugated sheet is fixed under the curved brick work with two gutters at floor level to catch and divert any incoming water (render will not stop it)to a drain. I hope...
