    EV owners - Car Tax

think you'll find they actually said it was the running flaming fuels that made it impossible to put out as they just ensured it spread from one vehicle to the next...not much of that in an ev ;)

    Pants on Fire!

In its simplest form…because it sells newspapers. They know their target audience and what they like to read so keep feeding them with their asking for.

    High cost of precision engineering

Had me a Suzuki GSF400 Bandit from new back in 88 I think…that sucker red lined at 14,000RPM and hilariously they even did a version with variable valve timing that had an even higher red line! Back then I actually worked in a motorcycle shop so got to play on all sorts of tackle and soon grew...

Amazon Fire stick - Questions from a tech numptie.

Historically our only choice for tv was to view terrestrial analog broadcasts with an antenna connected directly to the tv or via a coaxial cable. Then they added vcr’s which used scart cables plugged into the back of the tv but you had to tune into channel 36 to find the vcr’s output. Next...

    High cost of precision engineering

Don’t necessarily agree on a few points: A) The loss of specialist jobs? Pretty sure that the company selling pistons at that price aren’t churning out that many of them and the price reflects the cost of the equipment and the set up costs for such small batches. You don’t survive long by doing...

    Amazon delivery speedy

Whilst our household makes frequent purchases online or at local “supermarkets “ it’s hard not to see the effect it’s had on our local high streets , the majority of which now seem to comprise of coffee shops, charity outlets, hallmark places, opticians ,tattoo parlours, hairdressers/nail...

Air Compressor which one? Narrowed down to these 3

Had my Hyundai 50lt for at least 3 years now. Only issues are a short power cable and if your like me and your workshop power outlets are placed quite high on the walls it’s a bit annoying and this year the solid rubber tyre on one of the wheels split in half so I just replaced both wheels along...

    LA fires

Seems to me after seeing how urban so many of the devastated areas are that fire breaks don’t really have any relevance here. These fires are wind driven so they’ll easily bypass cleared areas by sending embers onto the next susceptible area and if it has more flammable buildings there it’ll...

    Filing Guides

you've just racked me with guilt reading this..I may have been the little **** who collected empty cartons of Ribena in his locker for the evil plan of torturing one of my college lecturers during a period in the machine shop. In hindsight I was no doubt led astray by an associate whom was left...

    New workshop build

They do a budget,Heavy duty or ultra heavy duty..I picked the middle one as it seemed to be more than enough for my needs and my budget didn't stretch the extra bit as there was still quite a few other jobs on my list (wiring and lighting etc)...

    New workshop build

was in a similar position myself a few years ago. First on the list for me was replacing the wooden "shed" door it had with a steel security door from Lathams (worked out a lot cheaper than you'ld think), then a nice Horman sectional garage door followed by 50mm pir on all the walls covered over...

Buying a fully electric used car

I took the plunge a while back with a brand new Skoda Enyaq and can heartily recommend the EV experience. We were that impressed at the savings to be had that we then did exactly what you propose for my wife’s transport. She has now had her second hand low mileage Nissan leaf for just over a...

    Predicting the Future

Seem to recall that boats displaced a volume of water and therein created a hole in the water that was directly in proportion to the amount of money poured into the said hole. Failing to maintain the correct ratio leads to a boat that no longer has the chief characteristic of a boat ie: it floats!
