"Emergency" weekend project build - EV charger plinth

Could you fix it to the carport upright with a couple of cross members to match the fixing holes. It would be under cover then as well.🤔

    Telescopic Ladder

I think I will stick to a conventional two or three section ladder. I've been reading reviews on Amazon of similar products, many cite the instability when extended. Some with worse outcomes than others. These are two pictures attached to one review. As with many things if it seems to good to be...

    Telescopic Ladder

Thanks all. It was how flexible it would be that was my concern. Sounds like 6 metres may be a stretch too far.

    Telescopic Ladder

Hi Does anyone have any experience of this type of telescopic ladder? I would use it for cleaning out gutters, wiping facias etc. Cheers. https://www.onbuy.com/gb/p/62m-portable-heavy-duty-aluminium-telescopic-ladder-extendable~p61934550/

Buying a fully electric used car

It's horses for courses really. I do a 12 mile round trip to work, so top up once and charge fully for the weekend. This is enough for what I need. If I wanted to drive to Cornwall every day I'd get a different vehicle.

Buying a fully electric used car

I bought a second hand Nissan Leaf 6 years ago and have been really impressed. I haven't laid a spanner on it in all that time. I've had no major problems just a couple of tyres. The range is not huge (80 miles) as by today's standards it's probably old technology but for general commuting it's...

Solid wood furniture board (not pine)

They look to be planks glued together from this photo. Just says 'hardwood' 🤔 I have seen them used in a campervan build on YouTube, because of the weight. They looked ok

Solid wood furniture board (not pine)

Hi I have a request to make a console style dressing table for my wife. I want to use oak or alternative furniture board. It will be fairly simple construction, probably dowels and glue. I'm struggling to source the board locally, many of the local timber yards sell shelves but nothing wider...

Workbench pull out extension for router table

Not quite what you're thinking but this was my solution. I made a drop in router table, it's supported on two sides on an L shaped bench and has a block underneath that's clamped in the vice. When not in use I slide it under the bench. I also use it on a workmate outside for longer pieces.

    Timber advice please

What would be the recommended wood for a project like this? Anyone in the West Midlands recommended a specific timber yard? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated 👍.

    Timber advice please

Hi Can anyone give me some suggestions on where to buy reasonable timber other than my usual places such as B&Q and the like. I always end up sorting through to find anything decent. I am near Dudley in the West Midlands. My reason for asking is that I plan to make a wall mounted tool cabinet...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

First three done, I'm only an amateur so don't be too harsh. First couple I did were a built in wardrobe so fairly easy, I've packed the hinges slightly to even up the gaps a little. The right hand side is about 8mm out of plumb. Bathroom one was straight forward but I'm a bit disappointed with...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

Advice taken on board, I have got some help with the carrying and eight of the doors are upstairs 😭. The damage was done doing the same job at my daughter's house on my own and ignoring the pain. I can't believe it has taken about 9 months for my shoulder to get anywhere near right. Anyway first...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

I'm doing them in batches of 3. I've made a plywood jig so I use the palm router for the hinge rebates in the door. I just adjust the frame ones with chisel. The night before I plug the holes in the frame. My biggest problem is carrying the things, they are 20 plus kg and I'm getting over a...
