First piece completed in 2020. Felt good to be able to start again in the shed after the festive break. This is the end piece which I posted in THIS THREAD
Hollow form from spalted walnut. Quite punky in places but managed to stabilise. Decided to add a lid and final. I think it could be displayed with or without top.
C & C welcome

Certainly worth the recovery efforts on the wood, the finished item shown in this view looks better than the first impressions I got from the other WIP threads, balance of curves can be seen in better in the side view.

Like the form of the body, not too sure about the top embellishment, like its lightweight feel, just seems a little too flamboyant. (too tall perhaps?)

Thank you Chas tops and finials are one of those things that are difficult to get right some like them and others don't. design can also be something that can make or break a piece as well.
Your comments are always appreciated this piece will sit on the side next to the tv for me to look at for a few days.

It looks good Derek. Thanks for posting. I would never have guessed that to be walnut. (My lack of knowledge, not questioning you in the slightest)

Maybe the top would be better with a simple lid and the globe, no "fork" embellishment?

Pleased you managed to get the wood stabilised. Thanks for posting.

I generally don't but I do really like this one, adds some nice movement to the thing.
