I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you PLEASE HELP with information about Quinn Hardwoods (Dublin) for timber/blanks?

(To VIEW the full list of yards click here)

(To ADD a new yard/s please post here after checking that it is not already in the table.)

Are they hobby friendly?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Do you have any comments?

Thanks for your help,
Neil

Are they hobby friendly?
Yes, quite.
Can you self-select or is it by appointment?
You can self-select.
Will they deliver?
They don't have delivery facilities themselves but can arrange it for you if needed.
Do they have online ordering?
No, but they do have online stock levels.
Are prices displayed at the yard?
No, you do have to ask.
Do they sell domestic hardwoods?
Ireland doesn't have any, it's all imported. American white oak, american black walnut, the ash is european in origin as is the beech.
Do they sell other hardwoods?
Yes, they regularly have iroko, utile, sapele and a few others.
Do they sell softwoods?
Only red deal and only in 2" or greater thicknesses.
Do they sell manufactured boards?
Plywoods and MDFs no, at least I've never seen any. Moulded T&G cedar boards, stair parts and the like from solid wood, yes.
Do they sell turning blanks?
No.
Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?
Small yard (3-4 people in total, usually only one or two in the yard during business hours).
Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?
No, you have to do that yourself.
Do you have any comments?
I always found them great to deal with. Relaxed, happy to see hobbyists come in, never had a problem with forklifting out a pack so I could pick through it, even opening one or two new packs if needed. Prices are going up, but that's more down to brexit and the US trade war with canada than with their bottom line from what I can tell. FSC certified.
