It weighs a ton, not worth sending back.

Just noticed it fits my lathe. Any reason not to use a keyless chuck on a lathe? (Tail stock)

No reason at all why not. My experience of them is probably of cheapies so probably not representative.

Crack on, I use keyless on my my lathe and drill press, very happy with them.

Nope.

Surely the only option now is to buy a bigger pillar drill.
Or perhaps just a longer pillar, if you can find one.
