Finally managed to get on the lathe today :roll: so thought i would put an out of balance piece of Yew on to see how it would cope,after doing a little bit of hollowing before,and i have to say that it is a lot better.
No vibration,no movement of the bench,and the cross slide does what it's supposed to,moves very easily. :D
I think i am going to be happy at last with this lathe :D
So here is what was turned today.
Yew bowl with natural inclusions.
180mm dia by 85mm high.Finished with Danish oil.

I distictly remember you saying that you weren't keen ontrying these type of bowls as they looked too dangerous. Glad you changed your mind. Lovely looking piece.

Glad the new machine is behaving better than your last experience Paul, at least you can now concentrate more on the subject without distractions, it shows in that piece in as much as Pete implied tackling something a little more awkward.

Yes Pete i remember it meself,but i just had to have a go after seeing your pieces and your encouragement,and am glad i did,as i do enjoy doing them :D even though the sanding takes for ever :roll:
 
Paul, Lovely bowl be careful now and dont show your hand too earley for the Comp. Looks like a Happy Piece. REgards Boysie
