Thats better :p

Have you a shot of the inside and underneath the bowl ?

Is the stand fitted to the bowl or just loose ?

I must say , so far it looks good

Yes,second picture is much better;the general shape and flow of the curves is excellent, the finish looks great, and best of all - love the contrast with the heartwood and sapwood :D

As has been said, a nice looking piece. Not often you see a lump of Yew big enough to turn something that size nowadays, it seems to be getting rarer.

Are the lines sanding scratches or do they appear to be in the wood?

If they appear to be in the wood as opposed to regular circumferential sanding scratches they may well be natural micro cracks that Yew is renowned for and you will not be able to do anything about them.

These natural micro cracks can also be exaggerated if you get the wood surface warm when sanding, the increased moisture loss on the surface opens up the fine fissures, once opened they are rarely disguisable.

Like the shape of the bowl by the way lugo.

they are sanding marks but i did sand to 320g. will sand again at some point
there are a few shakes in the bowl but very fine all part of yew
thankyou for your comments :D
will keep trying to get to the standard of some of the people on this site

Well done lugo. I like the shape of the bowl and you have a good shine to your finish. You we lucky to get such a good bit of timber to use. I think Yew is one of the nicest woods to work, especially when you get a good bit with contrast in it. As i have in my signature All i want for Christmas is YEW.
