Hi all

I have been messing around with another finial. You can not see in this one but it spiral up.

I had problems with the exposer due to the dark wood and silver bead which normally I do not get as the sun has not been out lately. So picture not brilliant .

Spalted beech lidded form 160mm dia x 160 high.

Anjan hand carved finial, darker than the last one as I found some lurking in my scrap box. ( see doesn't pay to throw those small bits away)

Finished in Renaissance wax.

comment welcome.

Very nice again Mark :D
Is the finial round or does it have flat sides,as you say can't quite make it out in the piccy :(
Does the Anjan carve nice, and what other wood would you use or would be suitable for the carving:?:

Hi

Thank you. I am trying to come up with new finials to keep my brain sane, mind you I am sure some will say I am already mad,

It is actually slightly oval shape with a twist. I will try to do better picture tomorrow as this one is really not very good.

beautiful mark, the top and bottom mate perfectly. I know this sounds daft, but is the silver bead a plastic bead or something else. Cant wait for the DVD it will be on my xmas list.

Hi Steve

The bead is solid silver. The plastic ones are not very good. Ceramic or pure metal are the best.

Thank you for your comment

Thank you all

Doug

I like carving the finials as much as making the forms as it means I have to slow down and take it easy ( you just can;t rush them or they break)

Jenx

  Thank you but I am far from a master,

I do hope to make several , but we will have to see how the first one turns out. Once you have watched it you may ask for your money back.

I will let you all know when it will be released. It is being filmed in October.

Steve

Yes you heard right. I hope it will be out by Xmas.

Fingers crossed.

thank you all again.
