It certainly looks good but I won't be buying...
it's going to be expensive - prices from the Apple Store are $499 for 4GB and $599 for 8GB, and from what I heard on the radio yesterday you'll be tied in to a single phone network who can charge what they like (in the US with AT&T that's between $60 and $100 per month,
the Ipod has a tendency to break just out of warranty (or so I've heard) - will the iphone be the same?,
I want my phone to be a phone and nothing else - I've had my current one for about 8 years and it still works well. Because it isn't colour, doesn't have a camera, doesn't have a radio, doesn't have fancy games etc the battery lasts for ages on a single charge,
my simple phone doesn't make me a target for theft - I don't want to walk round with a $500 gadget in my pocket,
keeping my current phone and not upgrading every year like most people means that I'm not helping to fill landfill sites,
my current phone is sturdy - can survive being stuffed in my pocket whilst in the workshop and can withstand being dropped from a reasonable height,
my current mp3 player is maybe 7 years old, still works well, can have the hard drive and batteries upgraded by myself and is not locked in to proprietary software. The current software on it is opensource.
