Couple of inches tall...
Three-sided shank....for chuck, maybe?
Three cut-outs, each with a sort-of burr/cutting edge?

Clearing a desk drawer out, and found it.
Yes, I'll have bought it at some point....it's Chinese (NO!), fairly hefty metal and weight. In a anti-static bag.
I've no idea what it's for....have you?!

Now all you need to know is why you would want it?

Quite.
I've no idea.
It's very sturdy if that's actually what it's for!
I have used dowels in the past, 'tis true, but always stuck to the purchased "normal" sizes.
No wonder it's still in its bag!

I wonder if it was a freebie with something else?
That is truly baffling....but thanks for the info!

The cutting edges in it might not be in the correct configuration to put points on dowels (as they would dull very quickly if used on metal) but the form factor is very similar.

That's true, very similar.
But no, I wouldn't have needed one of them either!

Perhaps the word "burr" was an exaggeration...you can put your finger "inside" it with no fear of it being cut whatsoever. Put it this way - if it felt the same on a card scraper, it would be time to do some work on it!

No, I think Ozi is right...but why and when?!

Thanks, chaps.
