Can't believe I haven't been able to find anything on here about workshop stools, but what do you guys use?

Mike

Not really what I am looking for, I need something I can support my self with whilst standing at the bench, so a high stool which I can park my posterior on.

Mike

Thanks guys, the ikea one looks like an observatory chair, may have to get one for that purpose, just needs a foot rest attached to the seat et voila.

When i did a C&G course many years ago: day 1 I was told to have a go with a mortice chisel and some scrap whilst they sorted out stuff for me.
I obeyed and pulled up a box to sit on whilst I did it. Very surprised to be told off for sitting down, much to the amusement of the older lags!
Basically you never sit down in a wood-workshop!

Varicose veins rule.

Afraid I follow the cyclist criteria, don't walk if you can ride, don't stand if you can sit, don't sit if you can lay down.

My mate has no problems with workshop stools since he installed a flush WC in an enclosed corner of the workshop. I have to go into the house, but then it's usua!ly only once a day so no big deal.

Found exactly what I want: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AWF2GAO?psc=1 but look at the price, going with the Sealey: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-SCR14-W ... 13SZ4X5JB4 Have four castors to put in the bottom, two with brakes, neat insert to go into the legs which will have to be shortened a bit: http://www.castors-online.co.uk/acatalo ... ml#SID=173 plus the castors: http://www.castors-online.co.uk/acatalo ... tml#SID=39 will report back once I get down to France again and put it all together, just in case someone may be interested?

Mike

Put the Sealey together, one leg not drilled for the foot support ring, four of the bolts did not have clear slot heads, very annoying, but after shortening the legs and putting the castors on, quite pleased with the result, the proof is in the using and will have to see how it fairs in operation.

I'm confused - how do you use a shaving-horse without sitting down?
And does this mean that every japanese woodworker is wrong?
:p

MikeJhn, there's a paul sellers video or two on this (I think you can just say that without even knowing what the topic is and you'll be right).

:D Very good - you've given me my final chuckle of the day! Well done sir

When someone brings in a chair/stool in my room/aka workshop I take that fuker and throw right out the window... ain't going to have a damn chair taking up space and always getting in my way.

There's so much better things you could do with your life than spend it on making chairs, I will allow the factories to make them with the right tools in batches of thousands and buy them already ready-made.
I have built all kind of benches, but chairs
