The one thing you have to remember is that the commando socket you want to fit is not fused so make sure the cable the cable feeding it has the right size MCB behind it . Plus without a suitable back box giving it the correct IP rating it is not compliant .

I am a Sparky by the way .

Cheers Stu

And make sure the cable is the right size also.

Did you get it sorted?

Not done yet, a lot of family things had to come first over the Bank Holiday weekend. I had previously been told the 2.5mm twin and earth I am using for the 13A sockets was appropriate, anyone disagree?

Terry.

According to the TLC cable calculator, up to 22m, 1.5mm2 is OK for 16a (4kW)
No harm in using 2.5 if you have it available. this extends the range to 36m.
Both cases are for surface clipped cable runs.

Well I'm only going 7m surface clipped with 2.5mm, so I should be more than OK. Thanks.

Terry.

Bear in mind if you do bury the cable behind the boards it will be insulated (heat wise that is) and you may need to check the 'defined conditions' and derate the current capacity accordingly. If you use 2.5mm you will probably be OK anyway but it's worth checking.
