Thanks for the tip. I have already got the wood, maybe too late, maybe not. One very long piece of southern yellow pine 2" thick.

Just rip it into 4x2s in the rough. (Easier and quieter to thickness later.)

Put it 'in stick' in the shop for a while. It will probably move as you rip it anyhow... So long as you pay attention to grain orientation when you do come to glue-up, you should be fine.
