Have never bought a real ''work'' pants before, but I have heard that there are tons of cool stuff available now so wanted to see If I can get something decent.
What I'm looking for is:
-something that doesn't makes you look like a homeless man or a typical painter which goes to tesco all colorful #-o
-something very comfortable when you are bending/sliding on floor and if any would have an anti-builders butt function that would be such a cool thing to have :D
-Lots of pockets that are large enough to put stuff in and.... take it out without a hassle.
-knee protectors that I can put in them, I just can't get on with a standard cheapo knee protectors..
-Durable ,so I can use and abuse them.

I'm always working in shorts as I don't have any proper trousers which are good for working, but it's getting a bit cold now so have to find something.

Snickers make some very good work ware that will do all you need. they are not the cheapest, but they are great quality, I have a pair of the trousers myself

I like Tuffstuff Extreme 700 work trousers - good balance of price, durability, comfort & utility - though the 711 series weren't bad, and good value. The main gripe I have with all work trousers is that the designers seem to be stuck in the past regarding phone pockets - I mean, it's great to provide a phone pocket, but pointless if they're only big enough for a Nokia 6110i...

Also, can I suggest you find a brand/series you like and stick to it; nothing worse than reaching for a pencil/screwdriver/pen and discovering they've moved those pockets to the other leg :/

Oh, and I share the OPs dislike of the trend for two-tone or multi-coloured patchwork workwear - hideous!

Cheers, Pete

Screwfix have 2 pairs for £25, dad and I have both been pleased with ours for workshop and farm use

I only wear long johns when it's really cold and I'm going to be outside for several hours. I buy them and my other pants at M&S.

Screwfix do work trousers.

And I dislike the trend for phone pockets in work wear, phones are a dangerous distraction in the work place.

But if you work alone, in the middle of no where they are an essential safety precaution if you are injured you might be able to phone for help

Emergency calls can be made, but in 99.9999% of case's they are left on and receive more than send which makes emergency calls a spurious argument, they are a dangerous distraction and should be banned in the workplace IMO, and that goes for radio's too.

My favourite get lucky Scruffs pants are scarlet, very silky and make me feel all 'Hnnnggh' on the inside because nobody knows I'm wearing them. Hard to get hold of though. The work trousers are good too and far more widely available. Not so silky though. And a bit pricey.

why should phones be banned? I use mine to listen to radio/music all the time, keeps me sane, that is when I'm doing something boring or not working with any powertools.
