Hi everyone,
I recently posted a thread about an offer of torx head screws with Axminster. I was wondering though, are torx screws much better than pozi? I've only rarely used them but they seem to me to offer much more grip, but that may be because I'm comparing quality torx with cheapie pozis. If anyone has experience of similar quality screws it would be interesting to know.
Any opinions?

I did some decking with them and they are very good, no cam out at all and no need to press on hard.
Overall I would say they are better than pozis, but I wouldn't throw out my pozies.

i buy the paslode torx screws. They come on offer from time to time with toolstation, so i buy a few boxes. I dont get through vast quantities, so they last me until the next offer comes round.

personally, I think that there is a bit more to it than just cheap posidrive. The correctly sized bit (and a decent one), correct setting on the drill, and not abusing them plays a greater part (i.e. screwing them in as fast as possible until the bit starts to spin on the head)- we have became used to not drilling pilot holes etc. With torx, you cant use the wrong sized bit, and they are harder to abuse, so they are already at an advantage.

I prefer torx bits- no slipping even with cheap screwdriver bits

I tried them, but I found them not as quick to use as a pozi. locating the bit in the head, seemed to take me too long. I don't have issues with slipping with pozi at the moment, it's surprising how many people will use a Phillips head with pozi screws, which does cause slipping.

I tend to use pozis. The only Torx I generally use are the direct fix masonary fixings which use a T30 bit. I don't suffer from cam out at all since I got my impact drivers, both 10.8v for the lighter stuff and my 18v Makitas.
