I am impressed. Having cut a (very few) threads by hand, I know how hard it is.

Yes, a build the lathe in the jaar 2003. The modification on the lathe for the treads about 2017.

I could imagine a book case or shelving unit where the adjustable shelves are held up by wooden bolts through the sides of the carcass. That would be such a cool item in a boy’s bedroom or in a bar/man cave.

Wow, now that’s a lovely bit of kit.
Always fancied a lathe, only used one before and that wasn’t very high tech as it was a spring pole lathe, great fun mind you.

That lathe is just pure genius!! One of those 'unless you had seen it with your own eyes, you wouldn't believe' things. I love it. So ingenious and obviously works so well, the wooden nuts and bolts are beautiful. Amazing!!!

What an excellent idea to have the axis of the spindle at 90 degres to the axis of the work and use a high speed cutter. My attempts at cutting threads have had them aligned which makes for a much rougher cutting action I suspect. The pictures shows me cutting a test piece in box wood. The green drive belt on the right runs to old-fashioned overhead gear and a treadle drive (!)

I notice you are working the screwthread "dry", have you ever pre-soaked the dowel in BLO beforehand to see if this gives a better surface fininsh to the threads? I know When I make threads by hand BLO helps give a much better finish as well as making it easier to move the threadbox

Only on softer wood i pre soaked with blo before tread cutting.
All finished treads ar lubricated with linseed oil for better performance. That works great.
