Hi

Can anyone advise me what this is on the underside of a old drop leaf table? Its an old table (not been stored in a shed) always been in a house....

It was my uncles table & he died & now we have it...

The "bubbling" is upraised (hard to work out if its upraised or not in the picture) but it is Up a few mm of the wood.

Any advice would be greatful.
Cheers

Here are 2x images I took....

Well I doubt if it is worm.
Have you tried scraping a bit off? It might just be a mould/fungus/bugs home on the surface. Is it dry to touch?

Good Luck

Not scraped it before incase it made it worse, just took it outdoors & scraped it a bit.

Its like brown sand / powder.

OK it comes off then but has it attacked the wood underneath or just something that has arrived and maybe taken colour from the stain?

Might be nought to worry about.

It's difficult to tell from the photo's. Any chance it could be the dried out residue of some long forgotten piece of chewing gum - you did say it's on the underside of the table!!
