Ive got a 20ft container coming next week, Im after some canteliever racking to fill one side of it, Has anyone bought any or can reccomend a site/ company to buy from.

Hi,

Weld some square tubes to the side of the container?

Pete

Pete's option would be cheaper if you can find a good local welder (or can do it yourself)

Going by rapidracking prices (Thanks for the link Martin) it will be loads cheaper to have something made, Welding square tubes onto the side isnt really going to cut it due to how much stock i hold, 4&5 meter lengths of 8/7/6/5" and packs of 2/1, 3/1 TVG and Cornice is a fair bit of weight to hold.
Typical the scrapyards arent busy im in the market for quite a few meters of box and angle.
I can weld.. to a fashion, Arc not mig, I need it to be safe. Better pay someone!!

We usually fit out our site storage containers using Unistrut or Unirax.
You can alter about to suit whatever configuration you need, at ant time.

it might be too late but try your local woolworths. my brother in law was the manager of the Hounslow branch and he had loads of racking from the stock room to get rid of.

Before you weld anything to the skins of containers, check if the sides are sandwich-insulated (some are).

Insulation foams, if present, may release toxic fumes or burn out of control.

If it's a single or hollow skin, weld away......

How about using scaffolding tubes.
Relatively cheap, easy and quick to erect, strong as hell. The only downside I can see, they're heavy.
If you're not going to move the container it will not matter.

How would i make a canteliver rack from scaffolding tubes, Sounds a good idea if i knew what was available to bolt it all together with, Im not too worried about the weight.

Nothing will be welded onto the container, Thanks for the heads up about insulation but i think its single skin. My landlord is paying for it and im renting it. Everything must be removeable.

How much do they condensate inside, Would it be a good idea to have some sort of air movement inside for when it all locked up?

Just an update on the container, The rack is in, The chaps in the unit nextdoor made it for me, Alot cheaper than any shop bought one :D

Now time to rack the other side out for the boards, :-k

I'd get it all out of the plastic bags, if I were you and stack it so that air can circulate, otherwise it will twist like mad when you start to use it.

Is that green thing a dehum?

Its hasnt twisted in the 3 years ive been useing the same product :? , While its freezing at night times im running the dehumidifier during the day when the roof starts to thaw out.
Its not really pulling alot of moisture, Just over a pint between 8 and 4 today but most of that was probably from the roof when the sun got round and started thawing.
Time to think about summer and too much heat, Would a bathroom expelair one end and a adjustable vent the other be enough to keep it cool inside :?:

Its the 2 weeks between winter [-o<

Seein youre just up the road im assuming Norwich is getting some white stuff also?

"Two weeks"!!! sorry to dissapoint you Blue Zephyr, but Summer is on a thursday this year

If you have electric to the container then put in somekind of ventilation to pull air through it. This will stop the condensation from forming on the roof - otherwise it can be as if it's raining in these containers.

Electric is being installed next week, Its just how big a fan to put on a timer that will eliminate condensation :?:
From a bathroom expellair to a small machine mart extractor is a bit of a price hike.
