I am building an oak live edge resin table and I need a planer that can take 75-80cm wide boards in or nearby Norwich. Can someone recommend one?

An alternative would a cnc but it would need to also be able to do 150cm long, so bit unlikely to find one.

PS. Mitchell Reclaim has one but unfortunately is out of order for the moment.

You would be better off getting the job done by someone rather than trying to hire the machine, saves the cost and transportation of a machine that is not the sort of thing you see for hire. Longer term if you are planing to do a lot of this sort of work then investing in a P/T would be a good option.

Never heard or seen a planer machine that will take an 800mm wide board, biggest I've seen and used was 24" wide, (mines 16" wide) more likely you will find someone with a wide drum sander, Bill Cleyndert is the only place I can think of in Norwich that may have one, alternatively give the guys at Norfolk saw services a call they may know of someone.

Alternatively, have a look at a previous post on here which utilises a router and rail sled solution you could make: Router sled build

Seconding the advice above. I don't think you'll find a planer.
Build a big router sled or contract the job to a firm with an 8x4' bed cnc router.

Hand tooling a job like this pushes people towards gear driven orbital sanders like the rotex for finishing.

I'm a little surprised the Metabo paint planer (powered paint stripper) hasn't been picked up by people who do this. It only takes 0.3mm a cut but wave it about a bit and it chews through wood much faster than a sander.

Many videos on youtube by manor wood. You've probably seen those already.

Would definitely suggest the router sled option. Either build one out of scrap or do a proper version with linear bearings. If you put a 2 ½ inch cutter in there you will get through it pretty quickly. Some places with big machines also don't allow resin filled items through as it contaminates all their sawdust and makes it a pain to get rid of.
