Wood identification

I have an old cupboard that dates c. 1800 which is made of pine and the front face is another wood - I've had a suggestion of elm, but I can normally spot elm and this seems to have lots of small black lines tightly packed in the grain. Any suggestions?

I'd go for elm as well...lots of it around at the turn of the 19cent. The dark line in the grain is probably the patina/wax/dirt from a couple of hundred years of grubby fingers - Rob

What swings you to elm over mahogany? Just curious as I can't tell

I don't think it's mahogany. I'm coming around to elm too.
