I know it may have been asked before but here goes, what wood glue do you use when making segmented etc. I used PVA when I was making the May challenge all went well until I was sanding then it fell apart and split. I have glued a few bits before with PVA and it held ok, this was the first time I have tryed doing segmented so I was thinking maybe PVA not suitable :?:
Your advice would be appreciated many thanks Tom

There might be a little creep with pva, but there's no reason at all why it shouldn't hold - has it been in frost by any chance? Or maybe it's just old. I believe many people doing segmented work use Cascamite.

What woods were you trying to join? Some woods are quite oily and do not adhere as well as others.

I used the 5 minute pva available from axi and it worked well. I know Chas has said he likes cascamite

Mahogany and ash glue easily enough. Assuming you left the wood in cramps for long enough, I would throw out your glue. Cascamite is easily obtainable, Titebond is good, Evostik Resin W is, as is Everbuild (ordinary pva is fine, D4 is better. There are plenty of others. I use D4, but each to their own.
