First two minutes I found boring; in fact MEGA boring
….so I turned it off

I can't sit through quarter of an hour of him pontificating. Could you summarise? The first five minutes (all I could cope with) was him saying that wood expands when it gets humid......undermining the title of the clip.

He's a guru.

He has followers, er, acolytes. He gets them to do his DIY.

He makes odd stuff, sometimes designed quite badly, that is somehow supposed to be special. One example is a rack for router cutters, recently, notable for its impracticality and odd use of joints and glue. It wouldn't last five minutes in my "workshop".

I've watched a few of his videos. I've subscribed/unsubscribed to his channel a few times.

He is very good at teasing titles. Every time I get suckered it's the title. Since he recently made a "hot tub*" using barrel stave construction, I had simply assumed it was leaking. What a disappointment.

E.

PS: I couldn't watch more than a minute or so. If it really was his hot tub leaking, someone please say, as that might be more fun.

* a cold tub is simply a wooden water tank.

Oh God I was hoping nobody would post this here. This is one of the most ignorant woodworking vids I've personally watched on YouTube and that's saying something!

He's done the community no favours with this, extrapolating from limited data – local experience – to a broader context, which of course doesn't fly. The very top comment when I viewed the video directly challenged him on this (with the expected fanboy defence, so obviously some people are going to drink this particular flavour of Kool-Aid)

Cannot stand this know-all-know-nothing fool

The guy's a jerk, thinks more of himself than others do but, he does seem to have some skills and better watched with sound off. Fortunately he doesn't say much in some of his videos. He tackles some jobs most of us wouldn't, like these beams - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hQWjrW ... 4&index=73

I think he's right, he's saying that wood shrinks when you bring it inside, can't say that he's wrong there :D

This is the guy who corsets himself in Samurai leather 'armour' to work in his shop.

I don't know what he thinks he is, but he uses mostly Japanese tools I believe. No problem with that but he just makes me wonder what he's all about!

Takes all sorts is all I'll give him.
