You're not wrong! On the other hand,the thought of marking out and then cutting all those parts without a CNC router is pretty horrific.

Isn’t the point of CNC repetition? No two pieces look the same. The programming probably took more time than doing it with a bandsaw.

It does look expensive.
There is a few ways of designing this type of thing quite quickly using 3d modelling and then a slicer software to create the slices.
I really like the effect and am going to try a few smaller ideas out possibly using mathematically derived patterns, should be fun.

That is one of the advantages of CNC work.With a half decent CAM system and correct geometry it only takes seconds to nest such an array of sheets and to determine how many sheets the project will take.With a pencil,square and rule,might we expect to mark out more than about five sheets a day?As for programming time,assuming all the entities that make up each outline are joined,it only takes a minute or so to select the shape and the tool and post process the file for each sheet.If the entities aren't joined it takes a few seconds longer.

In the "bad old days" when Gcodes were typed manually it would have been a different story.
